Ridiculously, Apple is apologizing for its wildly talked about ad promoting its latest iPad Pro after blowback on social media platforms.

Apple is apologizing for its advertisement promoting its latest iPad Pro after widespread blowback online.

In a statement obtained by advertising industry publication Ad Age, Tor Myhren, Apple’s vice president of marketing, said the ad’s message failed to connect.

“Creativity is in our DNA at Apple, and it’s incredibly important to us to design products that empower creatives all over the world,” Myhren said. “Our goal is to always celebrate the myriad of ways users express themselves and bring their ideas to life through iPad. We missed the mark with this video, and we’re sorry.”

MacDailyNews Take: Peak Tim Cook. Apple is silly and weak to apologize over this ad.

Advertising is a supposed to get NOTICED. Apple’s vice president of marketing, Tor Myhren, sounds like someone who does not understand his job here; or who is swallowing his pride to keep his job at the behest of a confused, reactive, myopic boss who thinks nattering nabobs on Facebook et al. matter in the slightest.

iPad Pro DOES empower creatives all over the world. Period. No apologies.

The proper, blatantly obvious response to this oh-so major controversy was to run the “Crush!” ad in high rotation, make new ads crushing more stuff into iPad Pro, and get even more people talking about Apple and the iPad Pro. Duh.

Instead, yet again, we’re subjected to the weak disappointment that is Tim Cook’s Apple. ‘Tis true, a fish rots from the head down.

Think Alike™.

Don’t rock the boat. Make ads that go unnoticed. Issue idiotic apologies if you hear even a murmur.

  2. When the word “empower” is used, my woke meter perks up. Tying it to the “creatives,” is all I needed to know that The Do-Gooders had entered the space. Btw, the creatives don’t need another to empower them…we do just fine.
    Also, a true creative would have just said, “F-off. y’all. Have a couple of shots of T. It was just a frickn ad campaign to stress an idea. No real anything died, or was injured…except your chiffon insides.”

  3. I am totally confused as to why this would be controversial, and I think it is quite clever. To apologize for it is a true sign of the demise of Apple. “FTC”, and I don’t mean Federal Trade Commission.

  4. These technologies have been around for some time now. The iPad is now making it available to the masses. Someone is always going to be upset when change happens.

      A regurgitation machine is a far cry from ‘change’. This is the same bull**** Google tried to pull by scanning every book in existence without permission years ago. AI is a glorified search engine that provides with compiled results. there is no difference between it and the old BS algorithms other than newer automation in what you end up with. Zero. Congrats, Gen Z; you made a faster Google that presents a bunch of crap that may or may not even be relevant to the subject at hand. 👏🏼👏🏼 Enjoy your cookie/trophy.   5. Steve Jobs isn’t rolling in his grave, he is weeping. I do not know what trash modern Apple is anymore at this point, it boggles the mind, but I don’t have a whole lot of faith that Cook would not be replaced by someone many multiples worse. This is just the state of modern tech. It is sad, it is depressing, and it is what we have to deal with. Someone(s) on Apple’s team thought this ad was a great idea. Fathom that. This is your future if you don’t put your foot down and demand better, and the time for that is right the heck now. Investors: vote with your dollars.

    1. Not very insightful. That ad would have been garbage 10 years ago. Has nothing to do with being on top. It was an ugly ad. Total own-goal by Apple’s marketing. Who also have botched the AVP ads. All of which are creepy.

  7. The outrage and sensitivity of MDN on pulling this garbage ad is way more than any crying we’ve seen from the “sensitive” people who didn’t think the ad exemplified the values Apple espouses.
