$50 price cut spurs 250% jump in Apple Watch purchases

Apple decided to reduce Apple Watch Sport prices [by US$50] last month. “Average daily sales rose 250% sequentially, according to new metrics from Slice Intelligence,” Adam Rogers reports for MarketRealist. “The research company stated that Apple’s decision to cut the wearable’s price entry by $50 was successful, at least in the short term. The entry price of the 38-millimeter Apple Watch came down from $349 to $299.”

“The company also announced new brands and styles alongside the price cut. However, the prices for the stainless steel and gold editions of the Apple Watch didn’t change,” Rogers reports. “IDC expects the Apple Watch to command a 49.4% share of the smartwatch segment in 2016, with estimated sales of 14 million units, far ahead of the Android Wear. The Android Wear is projected to be in second place, with a 21.4% share and 6.1 million units.”

“According to research company Canalys, Apple shipped 12 million smartwatches in 2015. This shows that Apple controls 67% of the total smartwatch market. In November 2015, Canalys reported that Apple had shipped 7 million smartwatches since Apple Watch’s launch in April 2015,” Rogers reports. “Canalys’s estimate of 5 million shipments during the holiday season puts Apple well above its rival[s].”

          1. According to you I am heartless because I think you are a bigoted, narrow minded fanboy. Is a surgeon heartless for inflicting pain on a person to remove the malignancy that threatens their life? Consider me your physician, attempting to remove the malignant thinking that pervades your small mind.

            1. You mean the “children’s book” that’s considered actually juvenile fiction and adults read as well and was a multi-million dollar movie franchise?

I understand your unfamiliarity due to your shame of not being able to read and comprehend even true children’s level books. It fits right along with the quality of your adolescent, whiny & tantrum-prone posts.

            2. Some adults do read children’s books. What’s wrong with that? I’m sure children’s books are perfectly fine for some adults. I’m sure children’s book are fine for you, too. Maybe, one day, you can graduate to more adult reading material.

            3. Adults read juvenile fiction which is not “children’s books.” But then you don’t know much about anything. Based on your infantile level of knowledge and idiotic opinions expressed here I’d say you never got past “See Spot run.”

            4. “According to you I am heartless because I think you are a bigoted, narrow minded fanboy.”

No, not at all. It’s because you are a font of incessant, empty, drivelling negagivity.

You seem like such a sad, pathetic little boy. How old are you?
Please fuck off and get a life.

            5. No but you ARE a fuck up. You know it, your family knows it, and if you had friends they’d know it too. Anyone who talks like you has a miserable life. Misery loves company, but it’s the only company you have.

            1. Oh, good one, bloody pecker. You are so imaginative and creative that you even mimic my posts. Tell me, can you not come up with an original thought?

            1. As you are Nasty Pffft. Really original aren’t you? I know you must be going through a lot of richly deserved self-loathing right now. But as long as you continue to misbehave here we will treat you in kind.

  1. It will be interesting to see if Apple keeps these price points for the Apple Watch 2. For an item like this, i think there is a huge psychological difference to buyers between spending $299 and $349.

In any case, my non-techie wife absolutely loves her watch (which she said she didn’t need), and wears it every day.
