You just made a very huge mistake by ordering the iPhone 6 Plus

“Look, the iPhone 6 Plus has a lot going for it. Its battery is like, so much better than the iPhone 5s. The camera is even better than the iPhone 6! And the screen! Holy screen!” Jonathan S. Geller writes for BGR. “But there is one big problem here… most of you just picked it because it was the ‘better’ and more expensive option.”

Geller writes, “I think there’s a good chance that over half of you that ordered the iPhone 6 Plus are going to end up returning it for the iPhone 6, which is already substantially larger than the iPhone 5s.”

  1. I chose the iPhone Plus 64GB, cause 16GB isn’t enough for me, but the main reason I chose the Plus is because of the resolution, battery life (much better than my old iPhone 5) and the camera features. Only downside is that I might not be able to fit it in my pocket and I do a lot of walking/running with my dog while listening to music on my JayBird bluebuds wireless headphones. I’m perfectly fine with a larger screen.

  2. I didn’t even realize that the 4.7″ was cheaper. I ordered the 5.5″ because I’ve played with other phones that are the same size. An iPhone 5s with a Mophie batter case is about the same size (thicker, but slightly smaller in width and height). I did a cardboard cutout and checked all of my pockets. I also checked on other phones whether or not I could use it one-handed (I can, by shift-gripping the phone).

The only downside to the iPhone 5.5″ is that it will stick out of my back pockets presenting a slight risk, and slight awkwardness when sitting with the phone in my pocket.

The optical image stabilization, longer battery life, and larger screen make it worth while.

    Cost wasn’t a factor.

    1. I never realized until all this hullabaloo that people actually put their phones in their back pockets and sit on them. I’ve never done that, and I don’t think I’ve noticed anyone else did it either. It’s always the front pants pocket for me. I never thought it would be “ok” to sit on your glass phone like it’s a leather wallet.

      1. Yep, up until I got the Mophie battery case, the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, and 5S all made an outline in my jeans due to the bumper cases (the original iPhone, 3G and 3GS never had this issue).

I suppose it’s possible to damage the phone if you just dropped down on your behind on a hard surface, but that would be hard on your body as well.

Listen, I took a Casio scientific calculator and it has the same measurements. Actually it’s a little bit bigger. I put it in my pocket. For Levi’s slim fit, it’s right at the maximum size before discfort. Any bigger, is too big. Apple has a solution for one handed usability, until I actually have it in my hands and I use it for an extended period of time, I won’t cast judgement. I believe I have enough justification to avoid buyers remorse.

  4. What an idiot. I do not need some bottom-feeding ‘expert’ on the Internet telling ME what I should or should not buy. I’m probably twice this ass-wipe’s age, and perfectly capable of deciding what’s best for me based on experience gathered using my three consecutive iPhones and an iPad.
I don’t give a toss about colour, it’ll be in a case; spec is everything, so 6+, 128Gb. I need space, streaming is useless with the networks I have available, plus I take LOTS of photos, (image stabilisation is important here), I read lots of books, so screen size becomes important, and I use my phone for navigation, both car and on foot, a large screen makes reading Ordnance Survey 1:50 and 1:25k contour maps much, much easier.
The 6+ is pretty much everything I could want in a phone.
And I don’t need this jackass to tell me otherwise.
Carrying also isn’t an issue; I don’t wear my sister’s or girlfriend’s jeans, I wear combats and skate shorts for comfort.

  5. I purchased the iPhone 6 Plus 128gb option witch finally enough screen and memory to keep me from needing an iPad. It serves a dual purpose for me and there justifies my purchase

  6. Got the 6 Plus 128 GB. I was considering an iPad mini for my photography with WiFi DSLR. But the bigger phone with more pixel density is highly anticipated. I like to upload photos from DSLR. Need memory for video and songs. I do play music off the cloud, but it’s frustrating losing connection or not having it hiking. I just tell Siri “Shuffle Songs” and I like to have a lot.

  7. What’s really hypocritical is, before the release everyone bitched how they like there 4 they like the 5, it’s to big, my hand is to small. Holly shit, yet the monster phablet sold out in seconds. Maybe You’s have penis envy and should’ve gotten an android to start with but, thought the iphone made u look smart. I’ll tell at I got the 6 not the plus. I got the the big hand amongst other things you wish u had. I know when enough is enough!!!!!!!!!

      1. That there was some linguastics, I liked it. When peninsula rubs against isthmus you get such pidgins and ya got to love this planet with its Van Allen belts that give rise to genetic mutations and various ways of thinking

    1. The link between your typing finger and your little grey cells seems to have an intermittent connection. Does your Android ‘smart’ phone have spell check? Are you angry because your mom chewed you out for not cleaning your room?

  8. I ordered the iPhone 6 Plus because of screen size, resolution, battery and since I’m getting old, something shrinks so I have more room in my pants for the phone! Glad I bought it. I now won’t buy the iPad mini but will buy the new Apple Pad & Apple Watch & Apple Shoes, Apple Hearing-Aide with Bluetooth, Apple Coffee Maker using K-Cups.

  9. Ordered 4 for the family. A 128 GB space grey 6, a 64 GB space grey 6, and two 64 GB silver 6s. No one wanted the iPhablet, all but me wished there were a 4 inch or smaller version. My 20 something sons want the 5S size display not larger.

  10. I preordered the iPhone 6 Plus 128gb. I made the absolute correct decision. I use to love my iPad but stopped using it because I had many tasks that kept me on my laptop anyway, but have been thinking about getting an iPad mini. I love the idea of something in between that has full call and cellular capability. I never hold my phone to my head anyway, I always always use my headset, so that part doesn’t matter. I would have been fine making calls from an actual iPad mini, but this thing is more portable than an iPad mini and it’s not as ridiculously huge as people say. I have big hands and can grip even an iPad mini in one hand. I went with the size because for the first time we can now get 8 times (!!!) the storage space instead of just 4 times. I already used a 64gb iPhone before, but now I will be able to store all the things I use to enjoy always having on my iPad, not to mention all the iPad quality apps that will be coming to this new phone.

Basically, the main disagreement for most people seem to be huge and too much space, but I got those covered and am fully aware of the size and space.

  11. I ordered a 6+. I cut out a piece of foam core to that size and is very close to the same thickness and tried it in the pockets I normally use for my 5s. No problem. As far as holding it up to my ear, I rarely do that anymore anyway … 90% of the time I’m using bluetooth to my car or earpiece or speaker phone.

  12. Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the screens for these phones? The diagonal measures don’t help; I need the height and width dimensions. I would like to compare their areas. Tx.

When I bought my MBP 17″ years ago, it was just 2″ more than the MBP 15″, which does not seem like much. But the 17″ screen had a surface area that was about 40% larger than the 15′, as I recall. Since then, I calculate and compare screen areas, not diagonals.

Does anyone know the screen areas of the 5S, 6, and 6+ ?

  13. It cracks me up. Before all the haters of a bigger phone bitched. Now, that’s what everyone’s getting. The phablet. Next everyone will just mess up iOS and iphone will become android. Thanks enjoy

  14. I’ll go for the Plus, given that it isn’t too big compare with the 6, it’s is huge compare to 5S. Even if I chose the 6, I’ll need to use both hands, and for the Plus for sure both hands too, so my thought is why don’t just get a bigger one? Given that the Plus packed more cool features e.g: Optical Image Stabilization, 2 million pixel screen, and better battery life (a lot better). I doubt that it might even sound louder. Cause the scenario for iPad mini and iPad Air is exactly what I’m talking. iPad Air much more louder.

  15. Sadly, I made the choice based almost entirely on battery life. If the iPhone 6 had just a slightly better battery, it would have been no contest.

I’m not at all worried about using the iPhone 6 Plus. I’m just worried about how it’ll feel in my pocket or when making phone calls. But I’ll deal with it. I’ll give it a try, and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll return it in exchange for the 4.7″.

  16. I ordererd an iPhone 6 yesterday because already that iPhone is larger than I would really like it to be. The 6 Plus is way too big! I think his feeling that many just ordered the 6 Plus because it was the best/the most expensive is right and people actually will return to iPhone 6 sooner rather than later
