MacDailyNews Take: The natural order has been restored, thanks to growing optimism over incoming CEO John Ternus*. Onward and upward, Cupertino soldiers!

*On April 20, when Apple announced Tim Cook would be kicked upstairs to be replaced by product guy John Ternus as CEO, AAPL closed at $273.05 after being range-bound all year. Since that announcement, AAPL has surged as high as today’s $339.57. That ~24% leap in under 90 days highlights just how favorably Apple investors view John Ternus.

  1. Tim took the AAPL reins on August 24, 2011. The market cap was $364 Billion. Today, July 27, 2026, the market cap stands at $4.948 Trillion. Yep, the most valuable publicly traded company in the world.
    Thank you, Tim.😎

  2. I hate to say it, but of the leaders, GOOGL is the best deal. Their P/E is a shockingly low 16.43. They just posted the largest net income ever—$112.1 billion—with a profit margin of 54.77%.

Consider their portfolio: Google Cloud and AI infrastructure; custom AI silicon (TPUs); and Gemini and AI. In Cloud and AI, they also have an inference partnership with OpenAI and Claude. Their cloud business includes infrastructure and platform services (data centers, compute, storage) plus AI services for businesses (Gemini for Enterprise/Workspace, Vertex AI, and others). They also offer security, analytics, and enterprise apps.

On the Google Services side (core internet plus media and devices): Search and advertising; YouTube (ads and subscriptions); Android/Chrome/Maps/Play Store and other Google consumer products; consumer subscriptions (e.g., YouTube Premium/TV, Google One); and devices (the Pixel family). They also invest in moonshots like Waymo (autonomous transportation).

On “Other Bets”: DeepMind and AI research (and other AI-related initiatives), Nest (smart home), Verily (healthcare), and GFiber and other infrastructure projects.

Here is the important part: Gemini isn’t the best AI model, but as the gap between models closes, open-source AI models will be nearly on par with frontier labs. Eventually, AI models will be a commodity. What will be different is the harness and the framework around future models.

Speaking of models, the future models will be world models (multimodal). World models use vision to make sense of the world. Alphabet owns Google—not just the videos themselves that can be scraped, but the metadata and the legal frameworks that create the perfect corpus for world-model training. I’ve always loathed Google, but they’re best positioned to connect and profit off the whole kit and caboodle.
