I wonder why grocery stores are not considered retail.
It seems a little confused because under retail it lists Tesco and Waitrose, and they are primarily grocery stores.
We’ll yes and no both are widely involved with other products now, Tesco in electrical goods, clothing and similar products and Waitrose is part of John Lewis which sells everything in its Department stores and many of those products can be ordered through and delivered for pick up at Waitrose stores which also carry kitchen wares in house.
iBeacon could be one of the reasons why IBM teamed up with Apple. IBM could create some great uses for iBeacon then sell the hell out of them.
I’ve been in MDN’s camp for a while now (or maybe they’ve been in mine 😉 ). iBeacon is Apple’s trojan horse. Currently, you don’t need an app running to receive iBeacon notifications – the app only needs to be launched once for it to register with iOS to receive notifications. My prediction – soon there won’t even be a need for an app – you’ll be able to opt in or out of notifications through the OS, no app required.
