“Microsoft founder Bill Gates said that the reception for the company’s Windows Vista operating system has been ‘incredible,'” Reuters reports.
Reuters reports, “Gates spoke when asked to clarify last week’s comments by Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer that analysts’ forecasts for fiscal 2008 revenue for Vista were ‘overly aggressive.'”
Asked by Reuters if there was anything that would make Microsoft cautious about the outlook for Vista, Gates replied: “I don’t know what you mean. Vista’s had an incredible reception. The reviews have been fantastic. This is a big, big advance in the Windows platform. It’s the world’s most used piece of software…Overall, the reliability feedback has been well better than we expected,'” Reuters reports.

@ twilightmoon@mac.com,
Where were you when “oldenough” said:
“He’s working off the Liberals tactics:
If you repeat a lie often enough, many people will accept it’s true.”
Now STFU!
Chirp.
You said it. I’m all for discussion, but anyone that DEFINES themselves by their political views is sad, sad, sad.
It doesn’t matter how nice Vista ‘looks.’ It doesn’t work for crap, and that’s the proof in the pudding. So Microsoft has succeeded in copying the ‘look and feel’ of the Mac again. If history repeats itself we can look forward to actual functionality following suit in about ten years or so (and by then, we’ll all be using Apple’s touch and gesture based navigation anyway). ‘iPhone, bitch!’
MW: sense, as in start making some
i predict that pretty soon words will come out of Gates’ mouth o the effect of “Well, what was I going to do? Talk it down?”
@ Buster
Sure, Just sometimes it LOOKS like it
Gates’ level of telling the most absurd lies in public with mock passion shows that he could publicly eat sh*t with a smile, lick his lips afterwards and give a contented sigh. Amazing.
I waded into Vista for a neighbor who bought a new HP laptop last weekend AGAINST my recommendation that he get a Mac. It was hellish trying to get it to work with the wireless router he’d bought, and then only Firefox would connect consistently; Explorer kept saying he wasn’t connected to the network. To add HP insult to Microsoft’s injury, the ALT key broke off in the first weekend he had it. He finally decided yesterday to return it and get a Mac.
@Buster, BustingTheSkulls, etc.
I, too, get tired of people who try to push their agendas here.
MRI brain research done on people who are zealots about some cause or another shows that thinking about those causes actually activates the pleasure centers of the brain. Those of us (yes, it can happen to me, too) who get all riled up and indignant about some issue or another should bear that in mind.
What’s Vista?
…thinking about those causes actually activates the pleasure centers of the brain….
You mean like a moment of revelation? It happens a surprising number of times:
– Dang! Why didn’t I buy a Mac before? It’s brilliant!
– God loves me….
– What a magnificent universe! There is no God! No devil, no soul, no spirits nor ghosts, no magic….
MW: high
To me, the most telling remark Gates made was this: “Overall, the reliability feedback has been well better than we expected,”. That says to me that Microsoft knew it was shipping a half-assed product. Like they always do.
@Dantés.
To me, it says that either ol Billy boy ‘as bin secretly livin in east London for a while or e’ watches a lot of “The Bill”, a Pommy cop show set in London …”Overall, the reliability feedback has been
<b>well</b better than we expected,” know wot i mean, like … sorted … nice bit of kit that … aint it.
Bill “…This is a big, big advance in the Windows platform.”
Please ….. someone, get me a medic for me …. I can’t breathe …. laughing so much as to what this implies.
Bill has quietly retreated into his “happy place” of cheerful elves and prancing unicorns. When he will return to the real world, no one knows.
Translation: “I can’t believe that people are actually buying this turd. I never thought that anything OS as buggy, overrated, and overpriced as Vista would sell as well as it has. It is truly amazing. Never under estimate the power of conventionality.”
Bill “…This is a big, big advance in the Windows platform.”
See through Windows. Yeah baby.
Recently heard on Bill Gates’ Zune:
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen’s off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said:
“Feed your head! Feed your head!”
Yeaah! Crazy sheeit, man! Groovy!
All of you mischievous Mac dimwits have created the following lies, which you now believe to be true:
• Vista’s reception sucks very much like a brown Zune.
• Vista sucks very much like a brown Zune.
• A Brown Zune, or any other Zune, sucks very much like an iPod on my birthday.
• Macs are based on powerful UNIX code.
So that you don’t need to consult Wikipedia, the iPod can be on Mr. Jobs’ birthday instead and it would be just as bad. Macs are currently based on Play-Doh; 10.5 “Leopard” – no, “Leotard” – will steal XP’s foundation when it debuts in October 2009. 2010. Whatever.
In addition to rescuing the real Zune Tang from Ulaanbaatar, I myself am hunting down the pro-Apple numbskull that impersonated me. I don’t tell people that I have lied 24/7 (even though I have) because my minions would think that I had a comedy routine to do tomorrow. Either that, or that someone wanted to be sued for imitating me.
To set things straight, MDN, Vista is incredible, meaning
2 (an incredible feat of engineering) MAGNIFICIENT, wonderful, marvelous, spectacular, remarkable, phenomenal, prodigious, breathtaking, extraordinary, amazing, stunning, astounding, astonishing, awe-inspiring, formidable, impressive, supreme, great, awesome, superhuman; informal – fantastic, terrific, tremendous, stupendous, jaw-dropping, out of this world; literary – wondrous.
Vista is also fantastic, meaning:
1 (a fantastic car) MARVELOUS, wonderful, sensational, outstanding, superb, super, excellent, first-rate, first-class, dazzling, out of this world, breathtaking; informal – great, terrific, fabulous, ace, magic, cool, awesome, brilliant; antonym – ordinary.
Mac OS X 10.4 “Tigger” is incredibly. Stupid, as in:
antonym Vista.
“Muck” is actually a cleaner name and would sell to smarter people. “Muck” is also what the hackers in Russia wear to gain intelligence when around each other and stupidity when around Windows Me.
Your whining. Our wealth. Microsoft.
Sorry, late with my meds, I was.
Methinks Billy is the new “Baghdad Bob”….
To the second “Billy Boy”:
You’re just acting mentally ill. Not only did you come in twenty minutes late, but you didn’t back up Vista. You didn’t even back up Muckintosh or Crapapple. To distinguish yourself from the brilliant likeness of myself, call yourself “Gatesy Boy” or something like that. At least we know you use Muckintosh Tigger at home instead of the worldwide bestseller, Vista.
To former Muck users who don’t have enough brains to work out Vista (yet), here’s a handy FAQ guide to answer all your petty questions:
—-
Question: Why isn’t Vista running on my computer?
Answer: Because you didn’t follow the simple yet powerful installation directions, you monstrous imp.
Question: Why is Vista running on my computer?
Answer: Congratulations! Go to msn.com and redeem your “I Have Working Brains” e-certificate by typing the username Tigger and the password Leotard into their respective boxes. Well done!
Question: Does Microsoft offer tech support for iPod and iTunes compatibility?
Answer: Yes, in fact we do. Our tech support is so simple that it can be posted on MacDailyNews.com:
Welcome to the social. Get an 80 GB Zune. 83 GB. Whatever.
Question: What’s a Zune?
Answer (to the question as well as “Crickets”): Chirp.

In other news, India’s attack on Russia (now-Communist like Cupertino) was extremely successful because Mr. Jobs – er, the Devil – held a “vital strategic placement meeting” to discuss Muckintosh OS X 10.5 “Leotard” and the move to make. By the way, the Devil has recently made his move in our friendly little game of chess, and it lost him the game. And a rook.
Only five Russian hackers were killed in the feud, however, particularly because there were only five Russians trying to hack Windows (to no avail). My dollar-an-hour programmers in India are back to work today, but I owe them all milkshakes for the heroic deeds that they accomplished with flying colors. Then again, they accomplish everything with flying colors.
Your whining. Our wealth. Microsoft.
