Samsung’s review of its own Gear S stupidwatch concludes that it’s ‘awesome’

“Samsung Tomorrow is Samsung’s version of Nokia Conversations: it serves as the official blog for the company and is managed by its Corporate Communications team,” Vlad Savov reports for The Verge. “It is also, apparently, a technology review site.”

“Posted today, this Gear S analysis is the latest in a running series of Samsung Tomorrow ‘unofficial reviews’ of the company’s latest hardware,” Savov reports. “It tells the reader that ‘the UI of the Gear S is as intuitive as it gets’ and ‘as much as this may sound biased, Gear S is awesome.'”

“What it doesn’t disclose anywhere is whether the self-identified ‘most average editor’ authoring the piece is employed by Samsung, or that he’s writing for a website owned by Samsung,” Savov reports. “This leaves ample room for misinterpretation…”

  1. I think their Korean to English translation software (no doubt powered by Google) messed that up. Here, I’ll correct that:

‘the UI of the Gear S is as derivative as it gets’

Pretty sure that’s what they meant.

  2. Yeah, but it does “look cool”.Being bendable “looks” SECOND gen. Samsung is working on it’s THIRD watch, Apple has yet to…..
In the end people may want a Keyboard. Try using voice recgognition on a loud New York City street. Could that be a problem, if voice is the ONLY way it can be used ?

    1. Are you some kind of shitty english bot?

Did you pipe your comment through Google Translate?

It sounds like you’re an anti-Apple troll, but you’re so unintelligible it’s difficult to say.

Could you give us a hint?

  3. Not sure why this is news. It’s amusing, yes, but not news. What would have been news is if the reviewer had panned the Gear or if any review on Samsung’s office tech blog panned any Samsung product.

  4. “What it doesn’t disclose anywhere is whether the self-identified ‘most average editor’ authoring the piece is employed by Samsung, or that he’s writing for a website owned by Samsung,” Savov reports.

What a stupid thing to write!

At this point, when anybody writes something positive about Samsung you *know* they are being paid by Samsung to write that.
