Apple calls Rush Limbaugh; working on his Mac issues

Apple has contacted Rush Limbaugh about the Mac issues that he’s been talking about this week on the most listened to radio talk show in America; heard on over 600 stations in the U.S.

Partial transcript from The Rush Limbaugh Show yesterday:

I have an announcement to make: Apple corporate called. Somebody from high up the corporate ladder at Apple Computer in California, out in Cupertino, called the office. When did you get the message? When did they call, late yesterday afternoon? All right, they called at nine o’clock this morning, very, very, very nice guy, put my IT guy in touch with them, working — No, it was not Algore. Ha! No, Mr. Snerdley, it was not Algore. I’m not going to mention the gentleman’s name because the Mac user community that hates me will start bombarding this guy. He’s a west coast guy. He called about six a.m. out there and said, “I’m here now,” so our IT guy is working with him. That’s cool. Yes, it’s official. It’s not a hacker. It was official. Don’t start gumming up the works. It was really true.

MacDailyNews Take: The more Rush Limbaugh talks about Macs (even if it’s about issues he’s having), the better it is for Apple. Rush is planting Apple seeds. Making Apple Macs a real consideration for millions of people who might not have even thought about freeing themselves from the frustration and disappointment of Microsoft Windows is a very good thing.

  1. While Apple and Jobs lean to the left, a *lot* of Mac users are conservative. Hate to upset anyone, but its just the case.

And even though Jobs seems like a lefty, there are a couple of things that clearly mark him as something other than a card-carrying Dem.

First of all, he hates teachers unions and has blamed them for the problems in public schools on several occasions. Secondly, he sells (relatively) high end products that a lot of liberals would be angry about simply by virtue of the amount of profit they generate. Steve Jobs, despite the rhetoric, does not now nor has he ever, given a damn about providing a low-cost computer “for the masses.”

Last but not least, Jobs has no shame about taking as much stock for himself in any venture he begins or gets involved with and leaving little or none for anyone else. Famously, Steve Wozniak had to give some of his stock to Apple employees who had been there from the beginning because Jobs had allocated all of it for just a very few people. Care to guess who got the most?

In short, sure, Apple and Jobs play at being a liberal company but in many ways, they are very conservative in their business practices. Which suits me fine but I suspect that is not the case with some of you.

Hope I didn’t shatter any illusions.

  2. “Too many whites are getting away with drug use…Too many whites are getting away with drug sales…The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.” -Rush

There is a huge difference in those who deal/use illegal drugs and those who develop and addiction to legal painkillers (very common problem).

I just detest all the horribly abusive things he’s done to our country.

What do you mean by “all the horribly abusive things”? I’m curious…

  3. How the hell did all conservatives suddenly become racist religious wing-nuts?

What is wrong with taxing productive people less and forcing lay-abouts to get off the dole and get a job?

Why should the government tax the hell out of me so it can wipe your ass from the cradle to the grave?

  4. “OK, can we please stop with the Rush stories now?”

    Rush = controversy = hits = $$ from advertisers.

This site knows what its doing. Don’t click and comment if you don’t want to support it. You know from the home page what the story was about.

    MW = money

  5. G SpankYeah, all the people who spew vitriol towards Rush should be ashamed of themselves. I’m a liberal, but at least I have enough class to see him and everyone else as human beings. I guess it’s called “tolerance”.

Tolerance and class require maturity, which are qualities that are sorely lacking in society as reflected by many of the comments in this thread.

  6. “How the hell did all conservatives suddenly become racist religious wing-nuts?”

It wasn’t sudden. The libertarians should be against social conservatism, but the Repubs saw opportunity in allying with bigoted white southern baptists, starting with Nixon in ’68 but played like a virtuoso by Reagan in the 80s. Prior to that, the yokels supported the Dems. Go figure.

“Why should the government tax the hell out of me so it can wipe your ass from the cradle to the grave?”

Only one reason–you live in a democracy, and its the will of the people to have a government. One that’s smaller, proportionately, than what almost all other advanced countries have.

Question for you, Al. If you truly support the war, why are you so unwilling to pay for it? “Waah waah waah, my taxes…!” –give us a break.

  7. Please please please use this important national attention to INSIST that Cupertino pay attention to these FACTS:

    1. The Mac Pro is about to lose its reputation as the superior machine.

    2. OSX is about to lose its reputation as the superior operating system.

Microsoft and all its box makers are loving the fact that word is now circulating far and wide and in every print and electronic Macintosh publicatiion that the Mac has fallen prey to complacency and Leopard is FULL of problems ranging from not working at all on anything pre-Intel and experiencing real troubles on even the flagship Mac Pro.

The reason is Steve’s obsession with his phone, tunes players, and, now, TV gadgets.

If he doesn’t get the company back on track with focus on the serious products with long term value in the market, we could very well look back on the day when he stood in all his arrogant splender on the MacWorld stage holding up his ‘I’m changing the world with this phone’ ridiculous announcement as the peak of Apple’s existence.

It’s been downhill ever since and unless people with national voices – like you – quit the fawning and insist on refocusing the company, the Mac is forever going to be little more than it is today.

  8. “Apple calls Rush Limbaugh; working on his Mac issues”

Rush has issues? Gotta be a first. I love this guy’s show and there was never any indication he’s ever had “issues” with anything. Ever. Limbaugh is a straight talker who rightfully makes liberals squirm. They can’t take hearing the TRUTH just as MAC sheep can’t take hearing the TRUTH about their crappy computers. Let’s be thankful it’s only his little toy MAC.

Hey Rush, I know how to fix your issues. Get a Dell with Vista. Problems solved.

    Your potential. Our passion.™

  9. Hey Fatty Arbuckle! Did you miss-place that beer bottle again?

What the hell makes you think that every reader is an American? I’m in a 60% tax bracket in a socialist country where being conservative means anything right of Karl Marx. Over a third of the citizens of my country live by sucking on the government teat, one way or another.

  10. @M.X.N.T.4.1, so if you didn’t like the picture of God you’d think he was a bad person? What a maroon. Rush Limbaugh is the most popular talk show host in the USA, talking mainly to conservatives. Of course, you Limeys are so far gone to the left that your right wing is left of the communist party. I’m an ex Limey, (happily). I left England because of the unions and all that rot. You can hear Rush on the net. After you listen for a few weeks – then decide if he’s full of – whatever. Englishmen had better get used to praying 5 times a day while facing Mecca.
