  1. Oh man, this pains me but Apple is starting to really look lame. What’s the deal with iWork anyway? I mean why bother, just use Office. My iMac 20″ just died, my PowerBook battery was recalled and my iPod Shuffle has been dead for the last year until of some lame “new” firmware unlocked the thing. My iPod mini died thrice and my iPod 20g photo battery died within the first 6 months. My Cube that cost me 3500 bucks was a pig and had major problems until I just gave up with the thing. And the hinge on my PowerBook G3 500 is way loose. I have spent thousands on Apple stuff and must say, I am not impressed but OS X keeps me going. I think the iPhone is going to be another Cube, way to expensive and to narrow of a niche. I wish OS X ran on other hardware.

  2. “Apple needs to pull there heads out of their BUNS. Why not just announce products roll outs in the year 2010! Ha Ha Apple is starting to suck.”

    ZachCube,

Yeah, I agree completely. Apple should announce their new gee-whiz operating system from now, including a revolutionary filesystem and graphics layer, dramatically improved security and search, a shiny new interface featuring translucency and drop shadows, then slowly strip it of the much-ballyhooed features and water down the rest. With luck they can push it out the door in five years or so, and for less than $6 billion.

Wait…that sounds exactly like what Microsoft did with Vista. Man, Apple’s copying Microsoft innovation again. Damn them.

    Oh, and by the way:

    there, adverb: in, at, or to that place or position;

their, possessive adjective: belonging to or associated with the people or things previously mentioned or easily identified

Hope that cleared it up for you. It’s bad enough that Microsoft fanboys keep trolling Mac forums, but I guess it’s too much to expect them to know the difference in usage between “there” and “their”. Sheesh.

  3. ZachCube,

Just read your second post. My apologies for referring to you as a “Microsoft fanboy.” That really was an uncalled-for insult, especially to a fellow Mac user. Sorry about that.

Sorry to hear about your problems with Apple hardware, that really sucks, and I can understand why you’d be so bitter about it.

But I think you couldn’t be more wrong about the potential for the iPhone, and your desire to run OS X on hardware other than Apple’s is a terrible idea. I don’t have the patience to explain why licensing OS X would be a huge headache for Apple, suffice to say that they could no longer maintain control over the totality of the user experience if they found themselves in the position of having to test and validate an astronomical number of combinations of hardware components.

If OS X bailed out because of some shitty video driver, you can be damned sure users aren’t going to call the card manufacturer and bitch; they’d be screaming at Apple support. Apple doesn’t want that, and I can’t blame them.

  4. This has happened before, usually when they announce something without the inventory ready to ship, remember the first G4’s, we’ll live. I want an Apple TV, but I’m not crying about it, I actually have a life that involves sunshine. Computers make for a poor religion.

  5. Sources are telling me that the delay is to:

    a) Coincide with the release of Leopard.
    b) If it came out before Leopard, Apple would be forced to charge for the additional features that would be unlocked with the Leopard release. Apple could inform people of the capabilities up front but they do not want to reveal a Leopard Top Secret feature prior to the official release of Leopard.

  6. Notice something with my name….the cube part. Ya I loved that thing and hung in THERE (sorry about the spell check on post #1) for over a year with that pig. I really do love my Mac’ but when I think about how much money I have forked out over the last 10 years on all things Apple, the only thing I can say was a hit was OS X. I think Apple hardware is just slightly better than other PC makers but looks 100% better, so maybe it’s just vanity. Anyway, I am writing this on my PowerBook 15″ 1.67. Did I mention that my G3 Powerbook gets twice the wi-fi reception? This PowerBook is only 1.5 years old and I have had a few issues with sleep and not waking up or randomly just going to sleep. The Genius Bar gave me a tip on what to do but hey I shouldn’t have to worry about tricks to run the thing! I think the most anoying thing is the poor airport / wi-fi reception, it just sucks. Other than that it looks “maaavelous dallling”. Have you seen those Geico caveman commercials? Funny stuff. Should I change my online name to PowerZach? Sorry I have to quit typing my PowerBook is burning my legs.

  7. Glad I rushed to order it…sigh. No new Mac announcements, delayed shipments, ominous legal trouble…sheesh! How much more are we to endure? I know eventually all these problems and omissions will be forgotten, but I still hate waiting. Everything seems out of sync. Remember when Apple officially denied rumors of delays. They just lost credibility, at least for the short term. This is so unApplelike, and so Microsoftlike. Stumble, fumble, and bumble. They (Apple) better get their act together and give us something quick. This reinvention is taking its toll. There’s no option left accept to wait impatiently and resent every extra second we have to wait. Not a good way to spread goowill IMNSHO. This SUCKS!!!!

  8. Yehaa !!! about 36th post,

To anyone bitch’n about the delayed Apple TV –

    Pull yer heads in drongos.

Apple has delayed release by a couple weeks, Big Deal, if Apple think that it is necessary to ameliorate the Apple TV and therefore delay release to market for “whatever” issues, then I am sure they believe that it is important to get things correct, even if they risk upsetting some people, so that in the end, you can enjoy its full benefits, hopefully, without any “whatever” defects or issues.

Just about any product – let alone an item like this – is going to have a myriad of on-going issues right up to release, Sometimes things crop up that are beyond the manufactures control, or someone simply screws up. Shit happens, but not often at Apple.

I can not believe that even the most ardent Apple fan boy/gal thinks or believes that Apple are impervious to problems such as Murphy’s Law, to do so would make such a person a pugnacious extremist.

Oh, and d., i say, good on you for playing the game. i love first posters, coz it pisses of the fun nazis.
