“Apple’s latest desktop operating system, OS X Yosemite, won’t officially come out until sometime this fall,” Christina Bonnington reports for Wired. “But now that its public beta is open, both developers and a large number of Mac owners are able to use a preview version of the landmark OS.”
“For those who’ve just started using the beta, or are just anticipating its launch later this year, we’ve got some tips on how to best take advantage of the redesigned OS and its many new features,” Bonnington reports. “In this edition, we take on the new features in Calendar.”
“Looks-wise, the app is minimalist and iOS-like: Apple ditched the skeuomorphic pseudo-leather look back in OS X Mavericks. Flat, light gray chrome lines the top and houses a “Calendars” button you can tap to slide out a lefthand-side control panel for selecting what calendars you want to view, a plus sign for adding events, buttons for Day, Week, Month, or Year views, and a search field in the upper right,” Bonnington reports. “Adding an event reveals Calendar has greater smarts than it did before…”

Almost all of the icons on the Desktop are screenshots, which by default, OS X places on the Desktop. There’s not a single non-default icon in the Dock that isn’t open.
It looks crappy and unprofessional. There are whole bunch of them piled in the corner.
Oh, I agree with that. When doing screenshots for TV or presentations, I always default the desktop, hiding all icons, bookmarks, etc…, and that’s what they reviewer should’ve done, but the original comment of being a PC user was off-base.
