The Beatles to release rare, 59-track ‘bootleg’ album exclusively via Apple’s iTunes Store next week

“A collection of The Beatles’ rarities and bootlegs will be released exclusively through iTunes next week,” NME reports.

“The band, whose music only arrived on iTunes in 2010 following lengthy legal negotiations, will release 59 tracks, which some reports suggest will be titled ‘The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963,'” NME reports. “A spokesperson for the band confirmed to NME that songs recorded live for the BBC as well as studio outtakes will feature on the release, but could not confirm a release date.”

NME reports, “In total the album includes 15 studio outtakes and a further 44 live BBC tracks to add to those already on ‘Live At The BBC’ and ‘On Air: Live At The BBC Volume 2’, which was released earlier this year.”

    1. Hey Karl, that’s why The Beatles were able to release a 27-title compilation assembled solely from their Nº1 hits.
You have verbal communication emanating from your rectum.

BTW, the Stones also produced stellar pieces, just not as many (I’m counting 11 Nº1 singles) and not as defining. They are more in line with bands such as The Kinks, Manfred Man, The Who, Jethro Tull and The Hollies, who each made great contributions to pop music.

    2. KarlV, whatever you’re listening to has either been directly or indirectly influenced by The Beatles, including the Stones. The Beatles were both the prototype and masters of “The Modern Rock Band”, a band that writes and performs their own music, takes an original approach, and cranked out hit after hit, in addition, they reinvented themselves and their sound and style about 3-4 times in their short career and knocked it out of the park each time, creating even more of an influence. I doubt a band that could only write a “few good songs”, would have had such an impact on modern music.

And if you really think they only have a few good songs, that means you’ve only listened to a few songs. What I think is going on here is that you have never really heard much of their catalog, but have just heard everyone raving nonstop about how great they are, which makes you annoyed by them, just because you’re sick of hearing about how great they are, not because you’ve ever actually listened to them.

And if you really have listened to all of their albums and still think they’re “Meh.”, you might want to keep that to yourself, because, while you’re saying, “I just don’t care for The Beatles.” everyone else is hearing, “I just have bad taste in music.”

    1. That’s another thing we have in common, appreciation for people who changed everything for the better. That and impatience with politicians with no evident critical thinking skills, and disdain for supporters of Viswanathan Anand who were blind to the superior gifts of Magnus Carlsen.

      1. ‘Bootleg’ in this case means recordings not given official sanction for release by the record company at the time.
There are loads of Dylan ‘bootlegs’ out there, and hundreds, if not thousands of Grateful Dead bootlegs, because the Dead allowed fans to record in the sound system ‘hotspot’ by the sound-desk.
@KarlV – there’s no law to stop anyone liking both the Beatles and the Stones; a *real* music lover makes no distinction! it’s all quality…

  1. Those have been around for years on tape The new remastered versions will be on the Pirate Bay in 3 2 1. Not good for the artist or the industry. PBS played most of it on the radio last week. I suppose we could’ve just recorded that like the old days. After all this time I’m not quite sure which is better. The old days or the new days full albums are dead now. On the other hand there’s an incredible amount of awesome footage from bands on YouTube progress I suppose

  2. Whatever your feelings about the Beatles as an act, the significant aspect of this story for anybody interesting in Apple ( the computer company ) is that The Beatles previously held out for a very long time before allowing their music onto the iTunes store, yet with this album, they’re releasing exclusively through the iTunes store.
