Apple’s iPhone 5s: Unbridled futurism in the palm of your hand

“iPhone 5s delivers four major enhancements over Apple’s bestselling iPhone 5 (which was already both the world’s top selling iPhone and top selling smartphone): the new Touch ID for security and convenience; new camera-related features in hardware and software; an advanced new multiple-processors architecture that combines the speedy new A7 and background-task efficient M7; and new radio baseband components providing broader LTE carrier coverage and compatibility,” Daniel Eran Dilger writes for AppleInsider.

“There’s really no reason apart from Tim Cooks’ gentlemanly southern humility for this advanced portfolio of industry-disrupting technology not to claim the status of iPhone 6, or even iPhone 7 for that matter,” Dilger writes. “If you need the latest and greatest, you don’t need to be told that iPhone 5s is the bees’ knees. If you passed on iPhone 5 waiting for a more serious SKU to sweep you off your feet, the 5s sweetens the pot with a fancier camera, a handy new way to enhance your mobile security without the regular annoyance of tapping in your credentials, and the future-proofing of a world-leading 64-bit miracle in mobile technology.”

Dilger writes, “And gold: it comes in a finish that whispers affluence and plugged-in, fashionable techno-chic, with a dazzling metallic ring that begs for a demonstration of the unbridled futurism you wield in the palm of your hand. You got the iPhone 5s.”

    1. So interesting how true that has become for some of us! I never related to my LG flip phone that way. After I was gifted with an iPhone 3GS my life changed. I developed a codependency with the new little computer, a radical change from the burden of perplexity and inconvenience I had laboured under beforehand.

If one’s life were a novel;—iPhone solved a number of significant problems in my life, thus I feel bound to my first true love. Before Apple, there were only clumsy opportunists with the wrong flowers. After Apple, more worthy suitors began to appear, but were brashly overconfident and presumptuous, groping rather than caressing.

As Apple has charged human expectations in unforeseen ways, the romance of humanity flirting with intelligent technology—a far cry from cowering with trepidation—has become a best seller.

  1. Yes its for the future, which is why for the present I bought an iPhone 5 64GB last week at a huge discount ($179). 5S with 32 GB would have been $400 with tax so forget that. I can live without Touch ID and the 64-bit chip is more hype than a big deal for next couple of years.

    1. That’s a great deal ivid. While the 5s is undoubtedly the bee’s-knees, you very wisely bought a brilliant phone and system instead of buying a POS Samedung or similar. When the pennies are tight ya gotta do what ya gotta do – nothing wrong with that. But you displayed great cool in buying Apple’s iPhone 5, not a wannabe phone.
