In response to a question from caller Rosie, an 11th grader in Lake Havasu, Arizona, Mac, iPhone, and iPad user Rush Limbaugh today briefly discussed Apple-centric tech blogs on his radio program that, since its inception on August 1, 1988, is the highest-rated talk radio show in the United States.
The 3-hour Rush Limbaugh Show airs daily on a network of approximately 590 AM and FM affiliate stations. The program is also broadcast worldwide on the U.S. Armed Forces Radio Network. A November 2008 poll by Zogby International found that Rush Limbaugh was the most trusted news personality in the nation.
From the live transcript:
I’ve never mentioned any of these before. I can’t mention them all, but since you said Apple, that helps narrow it down. In no particular order, here they are: iMore.com. That’s run by a guy named Rene Ritchie. I think he’s out of Canada, but this site, in addition to keeping you up-to-speed on everything happening with Apple, will offer you excellent tips on using Apple products, both the mobile and desktop.
MacDailyNews.com is also fabulous. AppleInsider.com is great. World of Apple is okay. There are a couple of others that are not specifically Apple, but they are Apple centric. They cover a lot more than that. One of them is called loopinsight.com and the other’s daringfireball.com. We’ll link to all of these at RushLimbaugh.com on our website. Rosie, if you weren’t able to write them all down, they will be on our website. You’ll be able to find them all.

MacDailyNews Take: Oh, so that’s where that unexpected Friday afternoon traffic surge came from.
Welcome new readers and thanks, Rush!

I find it humorous that all of the unprofessional language used to describe Rush is not backed up with one single fact that would verify the language. As far as I can see, it is only liberals who continue to make race, gender, etc. an issue. Grow up. We live in the 21st century.
Well that article totally justifies all the liberal hate-mongering!
I agree!
Grigori
Thanks for showing us again how shallow, ill-informed and easily lead some people are.
The ‘rant’ Rush aired about Beyonce was simply him reading an article from a British tabloid, not his thoughts. Two prominent Blacks weighed in with the exact same message. Where are your quotes from them?
http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/the-juice/1552529/keyshia-cole-calls-out-beyonce-for-bow-down
here is the article he read
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/9942872/Why-I-dont-want-to-be-Beyonces-bitch.html
You have been duped, don’t know it, won’t double check to find out, and wouldn’t admit it if you did.
And in my world, Sandra Fluke is not just a slut, but a skank.
“Thanks, Rush!” Really? You guys have just jumped the shark.
No shark to jump.
Along with the other sites, MDN recognizes the huge value of a mention by Mr. Limbaugh:
The Loop: “Thanks Rush.”
http://www.loopinsight.com/2013/03/22/rush-limbaughs-favorite-apple-tech-blogs/
iMore: “Thank you!”
http://www.imore.com/rush-limbaugh-loves-imore
all you MDN apologists are missing the point. Yes, it’s a great site (except when it gets political) but by flaunting Rush’s approval they are in essence supporting the views of a bigot. You cannot deny this man is a bigot. So just stick to tech news.
The upside to this ridiculous article is that I know have a list of sights I will replace MDN with for my daily viewing.
Buh Bye !!
“know have a list of sights”
So nice to see such literary brilliance!
Next time try: NOW have a list of SITES
“sights” hmmmmm is that a gun related comment? Is your keyboard shaped like a gun? Is your morning pastry shaped like a gun? we are watching you for dangerous tendencies
Rush’s two favorite companies ……Apple and Endo Pharmacueticals.
But not necessarily in that order.
Unfortunately, I actually have friends that listen to the otherwise empty bloviator Rush Limbaugh. The only thing good I can say about that is that I hope those same friends heard Blowhard Limbaugh’s comments on MacDailyNews and also any kind words said Blowhard had to say about Apple products. These same friends also own Android devices, which proves they don’t really know their way around good technology, despite listening to the Great Bloviator. Tsk tsk.
I actually don’t believe you have friends.
I don’t agree with him, but that’s what being an American is all about!
Good to have you here Rush.
Buh BYE !!!
This is great! We can get the over-emotional freaks out of here in one day!
+1
Mac Caily News is the only Mac site I visit. And I do that several times a day. Agree with Rush!
Grats MDN! Nice endorsement!
Guess I need to remove MDN from my bookmarks bar. Why would you advertise this? RL is an incredible douchebag that uses macs. So-the-fSck-what.
Yuck. What’s that stench. Oh, it’s that creepy fat guy leering at us from the other side.
This guy is a douchebag. Why waste time praising this ass?
If only I gave one half of one half of a mouse’s tit this would be great news. But without regard for some of your more dubious fans, MDN, rest assured that I think you are simply fabulous, fabulous I tell you! And I’ve been a fan for a very long time.
If you read these comments carefully, you’ll notice a trend. When it comes to disagreement, conservatives try to debate, while liberals try to disparage. Unfortunately, the exceptions are rare.
Have you ever considered, Mr. Limbaugh, ACTUALLY helping other people in the world? I have:
http://Mac-Security.blogspot.com
I do it for free.
He has a Leukemia/Lymphoma call-a-thon every year and also heavily supports the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Agency.
He is also ranked as one of the highest donors among celebrities.
You probably don’t know this because he doesn’t wear it on his sleeve as some do…..
So maybe, he also hides the possibility that he has a conscience. If so, why all the hate, bile, deceit, propaganda, blahblahblah party line garbage?
Derek, there is no way to convince you of something you don’t want to believe, but I’ll counter a few points.
Hate: well, you’d have to show me a specific example of that. I hear a lot of frustration and anger, but not near the hate in all my years of listening to him that this one thread has brought from the left (and some on the right).
Bile: Whatever
Deceit: Again, would need a specific instance. I have heard him say things that I found to be wrong, but I also hear him make corrections. ‘Deceit’ implies intent.
Propaganda: A good example of that would be your post. Opinions slanted with one side of ‘facts’ is very easy to do. Just look at Jay Carney…..
Party Line: serious? Sorry, he bitches more about the Republicans than anything else other than Democrats and the news media. He is a Conservative, which pigeonholes him (and many) on the national level to support Republicans.
Keep in mind, Conservatism is an outlook on life, not a political party or a team. I have voted for many Democrats in local and state elections because they were good men and conservative on issues that mattered to me. An example would be the governor of Arkansas, who I voted for.
But then you get to the national level where we had to vote Blanche Lincoln out, who I thought was a very decent woman. However she caved to the national Democrat Party on ObamaCare and the state, which until recently had only 1 Republican in the house and none in the Senate, saw their moderate Democratic principles being sacrificed, so Arkansas finally swung Republican.
Oh, and surprise tidbit of info about the South here; When you see all those election maps painted in red, keep in mind that is for Presidential elections only. Most Southern states were still in the control of Democrats on most levels until way into Reagan’s term. Tickles me when people claim the South turned Republican because of the Civil Rights Act (20 years prior), which would have never passed without the Republicans. Of course you’ll never hear that from the news media or Jesse Jackson, which is propaganda, Democrat style….
Well thought out and incredibly thorough response, TT.
You already know not to be disappointed if you do not hear the same level of discourse from an alternative point of view. After the Dem Dogma of the Day talking point and endless 24/7 media promotion, little is left.
Noted, good candidates exist from all parties if you have the will to think about the independent impact of issues in your backyard.
The Southern info is not exactly everyday common knowledge taught in schools or broadcast by the media these days. Gee, I wonder why? 😉
Rush full of the hate, bile, deceit, propaganda, etc. Noted, DC. Unfortunately a string of slurs, nothing more …
That you, Snerdly…?
😉
I don’t want to believe my country has gone to hell because of so many morons believing the party line propaganda bullshit from apes like this guy. Let’s be blunt about it. Way to waste your life, Mr. Limbaugh.
Wow, so much eloquence in so few words…
Sorry the bar was too high for you to attempt, Derek.
But then, I really didn’t expect much of a response.
blahblahblah. It’s this poliTard crap at MDN the is its illness. Rant away moron. It’s your right.
I believe you started the rant in this particular thread, Derek
But take your toys and run home, the big boys will finish.
idiot alert
Hitting the bottle mighty early these daze…..but with your man in the White House, I can see why you have plenty of time and need to drown your sorrows….
idiot alert
When it comes to challenging Derek on a level bipartisan field for an alternative discussion — the results are always the same.
Challenger is a moron followed by rant and run. Fingers crossed this time is different.
Hey Derek, what part of TowerTone’s detailed post regarding hate, bile, deceit, propaganda, etc. rebuttal — do you disagree with?
Specify, please.
As a citizen of Scotland I come to this site to read the words of those who share my devotion to Apple. After a day of teaching in a school where the HP garbage the pupils use are a barrier to learning, I log on at the train station to read amusing bias which underpins my own technologi al prejudices. I leave my political views at the door, as they are almost always irrelevant to the matter in hand. Why can’t all posters employ some mental discipline and take their political diatribes to a sight that fits their views.
Derek, I can now see why so many liberals hate Rush. It’s because most of what they know of him is incorrect. For example, you asked if Rush has ACTUALLY considered helping others. This is from his Wiki page:
Charitable work
Leukemia and lymphoma telethon
Limbaugh holds an annual fundraising telethon called the “EIB Cure-a-Thon” for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In 2006, the EIB Cure-a-Thon conducted its 16th annual telethon, raising $1.7 million, totaling over $15 million since the first cure-a-thon. According to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society annual reports, Limbaugh personally contributed between $100,000 and $499,999 from 2000–2005 and 2007, and Limbaugh said that he contributed around $250,000 in 2003, 2004 and 2005. NewsMax reported Limbaugh donated $250,000 in 2006, and the Society’s 2006 annual report placed him in the $500,000 to $999,999 category. Limbaugh donated $320,000 during the 2007 Cure-a-Thon, which the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society reported had raised $3.1 million. On his radio program April 18, 2008, Limbaugh pledged $400,000 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society after being challenged by two listeners to increase his initial pledge of $300,000.
Marine Corps–Law Enforcement Foundation
Limbaugh conducts an annual drive to help the Marine Corps–Law Enforcement Foundation collect contributions to provide scholarships for children of Marines and law enforcement officers/agents who have died in the line of duty. The foundation was the beneficiary of a record $2.1 million eBay auction in October 2007 after Limbaugh listed for sale a letter critical of him signed by 41 Democratic senators and pledged to match the selling price. With the recent founding of his and his wife’s company Two if by Tea, they have pledged to donate at least $100,000 to the MC-LEF beginning in June 2011.
“The foundation was the beneficiary of a record $2.1 million eBay auction in October 2007 after Limbaugh listed for sale a letter critical of him signed by 41 Democratic senators and pledged to match the selling price.”
Imagine that.
@DC-
Critical letter signed by our elected representatives on taxpayer time turned into a positive charitable contribution for the Marine Corps–Law Enforcement Foundation.
Now just imagine a tech-related critical letter. Certainly some signers around here judging by the comments. Upon receipt, Rush could add an engraved iPad along with his pledge match and again donate proceeds to charity. We can do it, if not for yourself for a good cause … 😉
@DC-
The last time we corresponded recall good advice something along the lines that people should do their research before they post. Agreed. 🙂
Sorry, I didn’t see this when I made my comment above.
Apologies. Something went awry with cut and paste. The first @DC- should be ignored, thanks.
Notice where the hate is coming from? There is nothing less liberal than a liberal. Truly a mental disorder. Get Rush on Apples board and kick that snake oil salesman Fat Al Gore off finally. Please. Talk about bad for the brand.
I truly am baffled by your idolization of Rush Limbaugh, one of the most divisive people in our country. He recently compared same-sex marriage to falling in love with a sofa and wanting to marry it. This, coming from a man who’s been married four times. Hypocrite isn’t a strong enough word for this bigoted pile of garbage.
After a decade of following MDN, I think I’m officially done here. Enjoy your teabagger followers. You deserve them.
Way to bring us all together, Dave, rather than being divisive like the person you openly detest.
What was that about ‘hypocrite’….?
Idolization? Not so much.
Simply deflecting liberal venom while correcting their factual errors.
🙂
Rush endorsed MDN because he likes it, not for any political reason, so why would anyone that hates Rush quit using MDN just because he likes it? If Bill Maher endorsed something I like, I certainly wouldn’t quit using it, and unlike Rush, he actually is a bigoted mysogynist.
I have a friend who runs a small cafe. He’s very conservative (of the variety who *understands* the word). My friend refuses to talk politics during business hours; he’s smart enough to know that at least half his customers would get mad and leave taking their business elsewhere.
So, is MDN a Mac news site, a political promotion site, or a Mac news site with managers who don’t care about running off a goodly number of customers. It’s visits to the site that generate revenue. No one, that is, *NO ONE,* will ever change their political stripes by reading MDN.
Steve Jobs: American Exceptionalism
BEGIN RADIO SHOW TRANSCRIPT – October 06, 2011
RUSH: Over all of the years that I’ve been hosting this program — 23 — I have been an evangel for Apple Inc. products. I love them, and one of the things that I have always done on this program is talk about my passions and share my passions with all of you. I think a large part of life is passion. When you find it, when you have it, it’s fabulous. It’s a magnet for other people, and it’s self-invigorating, and sharing those passions is something that I thoroughly enjoy. Over these 23 years, each time I would discuss Apple products — a new one that I couldn’t wait to get or one that I was having problems with or frustrated with — I’d always get e-mails from people, “Would you stop talking about Apple? They’re nothing but a bunch of liberals! I don’t want to hear about Apple. Why do you talk about Jobs? It’s nothing but a bunch of liberals.”
I talk about Apple and Jobs because I love greatness. I just love greatness. I am fascinated by it. I am intrigued by how it happens. I’m intrigued about every aspect of greatness and excellence, because it’s so genuinely rare. It is genuinely rare and exciting, and I am mesmerized by it. I’m inspired by it. I’ve many times told people (and you, too) that one of the greatest perks of the good fortune that I’ve had has been to meet people. I have had the opportunity to meet people who are the best at what they do, and that is exhilarating and fun and inspiring to me. So I attach myself to these things that create childlike wonderment in me. It’s difficult as an adult to have childlike wonderment. How soon do we all outgrow the excitement that as children we all felt on Christmas Eve, and how many of us wish by magic that we could recapture it?
To find out — to rediscover that total, unbounded passion of childlike exuberance, excitement, innocence, uncluttered by the rigors of life lived as an adult. And for me, speaking honestly, the introduction of every new Apple product ignited that in me. That’s just me. I am fascinated by what Apple products do; how they do it, the invention process, the whole way. I would have loved — and I would never get this opportunity; it would never happen, but I would have loved — to be the guy to write Jobs’ biography. I would have loved to have had the chance to just pick his brain and find out what it was about him. Because he wasn’t very self-revealing. I guess the most he revealed about himself was that Stanford commencement speech in 2005. It didn’t matter to me that Steve Jobs was a liberal. It disappointed me for his sake, but that is not who he was to me.
Steve Jobs epitomized American exceptionalism. His life epitomized it. His philosophies epitomized American exceptionalism. The fact that he was a liberal, to me, was one of the greatest contradictions. But that is of no matter and no concern now. This past Tuesday they introduced the iPhone 4S, and I told you that on Monday I felt like it was Christmas Eve — and it was for me — and at age 60 I was able to feel like I did as a kid on Christmas Eve when I was eight or nine. There hasn’t been, in the last ten years, an Apple product that has not created wonderment in me, that has not exceeded my expectations. Using Apple products is genuine fun for me; and at the same time, they have increased my productivity. I know I’m making this sound like it’s a lot about me but it’s the best way to explain all this to you. What Jobs did literally changed the way human beings receive-transmit-enjoy all media. One guy did this. He had a lot of great people around him, but one guy did it. One guy’s vision. To me, it’s mind-boggling.
I’m sad that he’s dead.
