Rush Limbaugh: My first home computer was an Apple IIc; then every top-of-the-line Mac desktop since

Mac, iPhone, and iPad user Rush Limbaugh today discussed his first home computer (and every other personal computer he’s had since then) on what, since its inception on August 1, 1988, is the highest-rated talk radio show in the United States. The 3-hour Rush Limbaugh Show airs daily on a network of approximately 590 AM and FM affiliate stations. The program is also broadcast worldwide on the U.S. Armed Forces Radio Network. A November 2008 poll by Zogby International found that Rush Limbaugh was the most trusted news personality in the nation.

From the live transcript, Limbaugh said:

RUSH: Ron in Cincinnati, Open Line Friday, great to have you here, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Mega computing dittos.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: I was wanting to know what you were first home computer was. I’ve been wanting to know for many years. I don’t believe you’ve ever say.

RUSH: My first home computer was an Apple IIc.

CALLER: Oh, I remember using those in school.

RUSH: I did. I started e-mailing then. I started e-mailing with that computer. I don’t remember what the program was. Was some — whatever was built into the IIc and quickly then went to the Macintosh after a year. But no, I’ve had every top-of-the-line Mac desktop that there is. Every time they came out with a new revision, I got one. (interruption) No, I think they’re gonna have one more rev of the Mac Pro in the third quarter of this year and then it’s probably done. One more rev, and I can’t wait ’cause it’s the only thing they’ve got that doesn’t have Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt is this wicked fast data transfer. It’s about twice as fast as FireWire 800.

        1. Watch Your Mailbox

Just wanted to let you know – today I received my 2012 Social Security Stimulus Package.

It contained two tomato seeds, cornbread mix, a prayer rug, a machine to blow smoke up my ass, 10 discount coupons to KFC and an “Obama Hope & Change” bumper sticker.

          The directions were in Spanish.

          Hope you get yours soon.

        2. Unlike the current socialist regime, Rush is neither stupid nor eager to tax America into oblivion while sacrificing America’s future on the altar of unsustainable federal excesses.

          Destroy ignorance, read Frederic Bastitat.

      1. Shhhhhh…. don’t get the libtards upset… they hold Al Gore up as a shining example of successful intelligence!! After all, if you can claim to invent the internet, then the rest is just gravy!!

      1. No, you don’t. He likes Macs. He’s still a repugnant, racist, politically insane fat idiot. The sound of his name does the same thing to my stomach as Palin’s voice. He should be arrested and put behind bars or deported. He is the most embarrassing Apple supporter on the planet. Not a role model for your children, or someone Apple wants to be associated with. Steve hated Fox “news.” I can only imagine what he and his family thought of this mouth breathing spitter.

        1. Yes you do. He loves the US and despises Marxist drones like you. You drones are brain washed zombies. It’s like the big commie in the sky has a remote control and commands your tiny, minuscule, brains at will. Steve also hated what Maobama has done. Steve was a conservative and couldn’t admit it. You drones are like moths to the flame. Idiots.

        2. Rush is not racist, repugnant or politically insane and isn’t even fat anymore.
If you read his 2 books you would see why. But it seems you are running with the Hollywood and Press liberal lap dogs and judging by what you have heard and not what is truth!

        1. I thought you Douche BAG Liberal-Communists were the party of understanding and for Drug Addicted individuals. Rush was prescribed, by a doctor, pain killers for an injury. He wound up addicted to them. What’s Maobama’s excuse you slime buckets?? You liberals LIE about everything you’re up to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Not likely he was doing any emailing then. You had to be pretty hard core to be into modems and to have an account on the Source or with a college. There were a lot of BBS’s you could get on but who were you likely to know that had a computer unless you were a member of a users group.

        1. No, not really. I had a brief email exchange with him during the floppy days. He was’t as geeky as I was, but he seemed to know a few things.

On a side note, I’m sure it irks him to have to buy his computers from Al Gore. 😉

      1. JP…20 million smart people? Possibly a good number of them…no way to know without evidence. But wise? I don’t believe so. Not based upon their willingness to abrogate their right to independent thinking and self-determination.

Rush sprinkles his vilification with some facts and truth. He is definitely a sharp individual. But he also strays far from the truth when it suits him, and often substitutes his opinion for fact. If you blindly swallow everything that he says, then you are neither smart nor wise.

The size of the following is not necessarily a true measure of the leader. Many people followed Hitler. Many people followed Stalin. Many people followed Genghis Khan. Many people followed George W. Bush. Most of those people were followers because the believed that the leader offered advantages to them, personally – power, wealth, etc.

I would despise living in a world defined by Rush.

        1. Queen Smell talking about himself and his delusional beliefs again. Kind of sad. I wonder how ling until the men with the oversized butterfly nets catch up with him and get him back in his rubber room. Hopefully before he hurts himself.

    1. Obama Messiah smokes…….CIGARETTES! oh, goodness! thought that was illegal on Federal property…guess he has a different use for the Oval Office bathroom than Billy J. Clinton.

      1. Barack, in sympathy with the long-suffering Native Americans, has ditched Marlboro in favor of cigarettes manufactured by the Seneca on Indian land. It’s part of a big economic resurgence for tribes that had lost control of their casino operations, and represents a potential loss to the U.S. of massive tax revenues. Naturally, Barack prefers to keep all this quiet.

        http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/23/nyregion/indian-tribes-make-own-cigarettes-to-avoid-ny-tax.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1

    2. Obama is an Apple fan. He invited Steve Jobs’ widow to his SOTU address. He could do Windows, Zune, Blackberry, and Samsung and still is 10 times the man Rush Limbaugh is, the most decent, articulate, and ONLY qualified person running for president. To think otherwise, is as pathetic as someone who wears a sheet or a swastika. I suggest that some people Google other things Limbaugh has said over the years about blacks and women. I dare them to repeat some of that here!

      1. You know, really, it is amazing how closed minded uber-liberal gay men are.

I’ve known several moderate and liberal men who were at least considerate of other views, but people like you just have no tolerance at all for others.

I dare you to find one full statement not taken out of context to prove your point.

        Go ahead.

Don’t find a quote that you can project your point into the words, but one that shows the full meaning and intention of the quote.

        The straight world is waiting.

    1. I don’t think anyone is scared. I think it’s more of an issue of being ‘shocked and dismayed’ that so many people give credence to the views of such a bigoted, mean-spirited, dishonest blowhard.

      1. Bigoted, mean-spirited is exactly the definition of democrats. You freaks are so out of control it is unbelievable. Any thinking being would be amazed at the nonsense that goes on that is democrat.

        1. Correction, Karen:

“Any thinking being would be amazed at the nonsense that goes on that is Democrat or Republican.”

Both of the political parties in the U.S. are dysfunctional. And neither is willing to step up and make the difficult and unpopular decisions that are needed to address our long term economic issues. We have now backed ourselves into a deep hole, and both parties participated over the past several decades.

Independent thinking is needed. And independent candidates are needed who are not bound by the internally inconsistent and warped platforms of either of the main political parties.

      2. No, I really think you are scared, or you wouldn’t make such an unsubstantiated claim.

Believe me, I can see where people would disagree with his Conservative points of view, but to dismiss them as bigoted and mean-spirited shows that you haven’t even vetted them, hence you are afraid to give them any credence.

      3. @tclash (and others who would think the same)
You may want to be honest with yourself and ask yourself if you’ve actually heard more mean spiritedness out of Rush or from your own heart just now.
It might do you well to examine your own self. You may find that you are guilty of what many accuse Rush as doing.
I myself can’t speak for Rush but I can tell you that I find agreement with much of what he has said. I highly esteem my fellow man, I including you, even if I disagree with you.
Many have found that voices like Rushes simply help articulate real principles & values that bring good to society for both the greatest and the least. We want people to be successful. The only real hate you’ll hear from me is against ideas, not people, that bring the lowly even further down and restrict people from the pursuit of happiness.

        1. I have no problem with the fact that there are people who don’t share my point of view, and I enjoy discussing issues with respectful people of differing views. My opinion of Rush Limbaugh is based on audio and transcripts from his radio show.

          @Karen: “You freaks…” = Reasonable discussion over.

        2. Taken out of context, most likely.
But then again, they achieved the desired affect…right?

I challenge you to point to a complete passage that shows any bigotry.
          Not humor.
          Not his quoting of others.
His own words about his own beliefs.

Then go and check the fact that he was married by a Black preacher-
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Hutcherson

..with a gay singer to entertain.
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elton_John

The producer of his radio show is Black.
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Golden_(radio_personality)

One of his fill-in host is Black.

Two of his favorite people to quote are Clarence Thomas
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Thomas

          and Thomas Sowell.
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sowell

Like I said, disagreeing with his outlook on life is understandable.
Creating falsehoods to justify that disagreement shows a lot of weakness.

        3. Oh sure tgash, Karen started it. You liberal dirt ball, freedom hating, slime have been viscously attacking conservatives in every way for eons. You lie, cheat, distort facts, twist the system, use violence, etc., in an all out attempt to destroy freedom. Some conservatives try to be nice to you nut jobs and say they don’t hate you. Most do hate you and we will defend freedom and vote you kooks out this November. You are parasites.

        4. @Franz: So I personally lied, cheated, distorted facts, twisted the system, used violence in an all out attempt to destroy freedom? Wow, I had no idea.

Please show me the evidence I did these things. I am appalled at my personal behavior.

The only other explanation is that you and people that think like you are paranoid, hateful and delusional. But gee, that couldn’t be the case.

        1. What the fact that he likes COCAINE???? The fact that he hides his college records. The fact that somehow he has a mysterious Connecticut social security number???? What’s not strange about Maobama??

        2. USA, I would like you to prove those idiotic
          Accusations!
I am sure you can’t because you are just one of the stupid puppets that copy and paste stupid shit to your Facebook page.
You sir, are an ass, and do not have an original thought in your pea sized brain

  1. “since its inception on August 1, 1988, is the highest-rated talk radio show in the United States.”

This does coincide nicely with the decline of this country to Third World status. Reagan, Limbaugh, the Bush Dumnasty, Iraq, plutocracy, and now that clown circus they call the Republicum Primaries, just one long string of evidence of how bad things have gotten in this country. I’m glad Limbaugh has acted as the soundtrack to all of this, as a mirror of American intelligence and values. May he reign for as long as it takes!

      1. Wow, so refined.
        Democratic control? Really.
My suggestion would be to actually go back and review history, but I don’t think you could actually grasp the subtlety involved.

        1. “but I don’t think you could actually grasp the subtlety involved.”

When you have to tell people how “sophisticated” you are compared to them, by definition you are not. Stay classy

      2. Reagan: 1981-1988
George .H.W. Bush: 1989-1992 (he was a good, reasoned statesman)
        George W. Bush: 2001-2008

That would be 20 years of Republican administrations since 1980, or 20 out of 31 years (64.5%). You are deluded if you truly believe what you say.

    1. And Clinton sure showed what an outstanding American he could be with his on the job philandering with a 24 year old intern by getting his d ic k polished on my taxpaying dime and then lying about it to me with that wagging finger! What a PoS the left holds him up to. Then there is little Barry, yeah he sure brought back respect of the other Nations around the world?! LOSER!!!

      1. Not only the lying about screwing around with his intern… What about when he had the AUDACITY to tell us with a straight face there were weapons of mass destruction in a country so he could justify invading it, precipitating the deaths of tens or hundreds of thousands of people!?

        Oh, wait…

        1. All the liberals in congress thought the same thing dick head.

I take it you miss Saddam and wish he was back terrorizing the world and his people you little worm.

Democrat policies always fail, always. They are the cause of 99.9999999% of the problems in the US and the world.

        2. Again with the name calling!

You conservatives just can’t help yourselves, can you?

Bush and his war-mongering cabinet were the cheerleaders for that war. Own it.

        3. Hey Tgash, You girl Hillary is accusing Syria of WMDs. What say you about that shit head. Like that name?? Plus the Democrats were very involved in attacking Iraq so you should stop re-writing history girly man.

        4. what’s your feelings on Bosnia ass wipe? Clinton bombed them and the Asperin factory trying get Osama in a completely lame way. you libs are so sick and hypocritical.

  2. Amazing to see who the libs threw millions over millions to counter Rush and failed.

What was it called? Hot Air America…

After they failed there they tried to legislate Rush out of business… with the fairness doctrine.

These ass wipes have no shame whatsoever.

        1. You would be completely wrong, although I don’t care much for any of the three.

Now, can you explain WHY you think that?
Can you show balance on PBS?

It is what it is and I don’t fault it for that, but at least I am AWARE that it is biased, just as I am the Fox News shows.

        2. O’Reilly is too central for my tastes. He is the definition of middle of the road. Liberals have gone so far off the deep end they have not idea how far left they have become. Years brain scrambling worked on them.

        3. The topic wasn’t about the show’s subject matter, but if the opposing view is given. Both shows do that, even if it is to make more points for the host’s arguments.

        4. Equal time????? What freaking planet did you drop in from. Like the equal time the Marist state run media give out on ABC, CBS, NBC, PMSNBC, New York Slimes, Washington Compost, etc. You are out of your mind AnimATE.

      1. The what??? “Fair”ness doctrine my ass. Nothing fair about it. Fair is the ability to compete freely like Rush does. Liberal-Marxist-Communist ideals are failures that’s why no one wants to be associated with them except for the brainwashed minority in the US.

  3. Dear MDN, I know you posted this just to get hits. I have to admit that for a number of people it’s entertaining. After reading some of the bile from both sides of the debate (if you could call it that) I fear the better angels of ourselves have fled in disgust.

We all come from different backgrounds and points of view regarding many things. But this web site is supposed to be about something that unites us. I would suggest that you do what Steve Jobs was famously good at – focus on what is important and discard the rest. So I implore you to keep your site focused on the astonishing phenomenon of our time which is Apple Inc. and the amazing product it creates. This thread is an embarrassment to everything that Apple represents.

    1. So true, JWSC. MDN appeals to and profits from the baser aspects of human nature.

MDN won’t stop. I have asked them to do so, and so have many others. And I find myself drawn into these useless forum political diatribes time and again. I vow to stay out of it, and then some idiot makes a patently false statement.

But I agree with you 100%. So, I will endeavor to cease responding to the bait. Let the polititrolls argue amongst themselves and skip the time-wasting drivel.

    2. Censorship from Liberals AS usual JWSC loser. Don’t read the post if it will bother you you loser. Queen Smell too.

      Which side of the fence?

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

      1. @ @JWSC Loser

Every single one of the “points” you try to make is false, based on bigoted conservatives’ false assumptions.

But thanks for the ten millionth demonstration that modern conservatives have finally completely abandoned the historic GOP’s at least partial consideration of reality.

        1. Every single one of those posts made a JWLOSER was spot on!!!!! Liberals are sad sack group. They are the most bigoted lot of any on the planet as well.

  4. I’m just amazed that for years someone wanted to know what was Rush first computer. I’m interested in which pain killers was rush into before oxy? Did he snort them?

    Baba-Booey to you all

        1. Oh sorry I was just following your lead of trying to distract from an assertion I didn’t like by bringing something completely unrelated into the discussion.

P.S. Name-calling is for those who can’t think coherently for themselves.

        2. Obama never should have been elected President of the US. Ever. The guy has zero experience running anything. He surrounded himself with the scum of the earth and criminals. He is a drug user. He hates the US. He has hid his college records, real birth certificate, has a phony Social Security Number, was raised in a foreign country, purposely doesn’t enforce the laws. I mean where does it end?? Really. This November it will end with him being voted out of office.

        3. Actually you’re wrong. And now an even larger amount is sorry it ever happened. Can’t wait for the Black Panthers to try to intimidate again at the poles and all the Democrat voting fraud that will take place. It won’t matter, he’ll still lose.
