“Siri is by far the iPhone 4S’s most-desired feature, and many non-4S users have been clamoring for hackers to make the voice assistant available on older iOS devices. While Siri ports have been demoed to the public before, it’s been made clear that public distribution is not possibile at this time due to legal issues,” Alex Heath reports for Cult of Mac.
“Apple has made a Siri port legally possible with today’s iOS 5.0.1 revision by offering wide-open access to system files that were previously encrypted,” Heath reports. “MuscleNerd, a prominent figure in the jailbreaking and hacking community, recently tweeted that the iOS 5.0.1 update from today features decrypted ramdisks, making it possible to extract the necessary files for a Siri port without infringing on Apple’s copyright.”

Would be much easier if Apple would just make Siri available for the 4.
My guess is the iPhone 4 is not powerful enough to run Siri properly, so Apple doesn’t want their name on it.
We have already seen videos that clearly show that iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4th gen run Siri just fine.
I know there have been videos of it running but not running “just fine” and you forget this is server based. If every iPhone 4 was suddenly running SIRI it would stop functioning at all for anyone.
Getting real:
Until Apple pulled the server connection to the original Siri app for iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4, it ran just fine. I still have the app. No doubt it would work again if Apple reconnected its server address to the Internet.
word
Intentional.
Apple is not about to waste the army of iPhone 4s in the war against Google/Android. Every Siri equipped device is one more soldier depriving Google of its precious ad generated revenue stream.
Apple has just given the order that they will allow others to arm the soldiers without having to acknowledge the escalation in hostilities or be responsible in any way for this militia. Genius
That is actually plausible.
Now where’s the untethered jailbreak?
Trust me … Over the next few days MDN will be reporting where the ammo can be acquired . I would not be surprised if the Apple CIA is covertly working with the gunrunners to make this as easy as possIble.
Plus 1
Siri will be beta for long time. When these first languages are okayed then they introduce even more languages with beta label.
When will Siri be available in Klingon?

K’plah!
In the mobile war, Apple didn’t really do everything it did.
Well said. Also in the mobile war, things are more like they used to be than they are now.
I heard only iPhone 4S signatures can talk to the Apple Siri servers, so even if the jailbreak community has the files, they still have to spoof a 4S…
This thing about apple-Siri-port link is pure BS brainwashing by apple with regard to how it (Apple) thinks about everyone else. There is no such link or operational port link between Siri and Apple. It’s a singular built in function. It uses, dictation, lookups, gps, and all existing apparatus to function all it’s operational variables are out there and have been for some while now. Do not take their word for it. It’s used as a selling technique. It’s also jackable!….it’s a language with lots of loops….just like computer on Star trek. It’s now being used in Military on start weapons and those drones as well as aerospace science to aid pilots … Ships etc…
