“More than 60 percent of viewers watch TV with a computer in their laps or a mobile device in their hands,” Ryan Lawler reports for GigaOM.
“So why not use those devices to figure out what to watch next?” Lawler asks. “A growing number of apps are being built to provide recommendations for users trying to figure out what to watch on TV and on their mobile devices.”
Here are five of our favorites:

Odd that Peel isn’t in there

I love how it shows you what is on in which categories at what time.
So much easier than looking through listings.

Thank you for the tip. I downloaded and found the app quite appealing. It found the toilet bowl of a football game I want to watch this afternoon; Minnesota vs. Illinois.
Glad to could help.
I had wanted to buy the universal controller that the app can also control, but it just isn’t quite what I am looking for.
But the free channel listings app is great!
60%?…no way, not no how
They didn’t say that they were actually watching it on their laptop…..;)
I don’t think he said that. I believe he is saying he doesn’t believe 60% of viewers watch tv while holding a mobile device. I don’t think they do either. Maybe 10% max. :))).
i don’t think it’s 60% only watch it via a device other than a TV..
I bet it’s 60% watch TV on both an actual TV and a Device.
I watch most of my “TV” via an actual TV.. But i DO watch some with my iPad. i’d be included in that 60%.
I should try one of these apps, I just use my Dish app for searching content, cause I can just schedule it on my DVR with ease. If one of these apps could access my Dish account to schedule on my DVR, and access Netflix to add to my streaming list.. I’d be happy to use one instead of two apps. But somehow I don’t think either will happen.
the Social type apps they list, mean nothing to me..
It doesn’t say that 60% watch on a mobile device–it says that they watch TV while having a mobile device in their hands.
I use TitanTV and have for some time. It’s quick, and displays well.
TVGuide
i.TV (don’t forget the dot)
Also free and very good. Been using it for a couple of years and they keep improving it.
Yes i.TV is very good. I use it all the time.
I sit watching tv with my ipad/iPhone or MacBook at hand, and I use it as my iPad is my only source of a tv program resource.
Saves buying the sunday papers for the program
