  1. I hope this update solves the kernel crashing problem that a lot of us iMac users have experienced. I have done everything from resinstalling Lion to repairing disks to clearing PRAM and still having issues which according to the Apple board is somewhat widespread among iMac users

    1. I have yet to see a kernel panic on my 2011 iMac..
Is this on older iMacs or all?
Only thing I had an issue with is for whatever reason it was running super hot.. I restarted it the other day and it’s running fine now. Maybe some app was screwed.. Dunno.

Outside that, nothing wrong with either of my lion installs. (course with my luck they will both crash…)

      1. I have a 5 month old iMac 3.4 GHz and the issue seems to be with 10.6.3 update and the graphics card Apple is now using. It is frustrating as hell and a trip to the community board shows that a lot of other people are having similar problems

  2. Any chance that the update will fix the problems with Safari trashing web sites??? Any chance of the problems with virtual websites and logon to Lion server getting fixed or even looked at???? So far, Lion has made me wonder if Scully isn’t back in charge at Apple.

  3. Sometimes and only sometimes some of my apps like safari and others take a long time to launch if I try launching them immediately after the computer boots up from cold. the desktop bitmap is done loading but it feels as if something is churning on in the background.

Anyone see something Ike this at all?

  4. …. Lion is definitely a pain – Capture one is broken – does not import pics, crashes… and Black screen freezes, general sluggishness.. It’s been a while since I really regretted an update feels really weird!

Apple really needs to fix it – like yesterday..

    1. Puneetski: Like I wrote before the problem is pretty widespread and seems to be an issue with the 10.6.3 update and bad code for graphics cards. I have seen the windowshade of black forcing me to restart as well as a host of kernel errors. I believe that Apple is aware of the issue but having to wait so long for a fix is at least disappointing

  5. I notice in Lion sometimes when it’s at the login screen and put to sleep, when it wakes the entire screen has shrunk about a third to half to the upper left corner and the rest of the screen is black. Some kind of graphics card error. This on a 2009 24″ iMac 2.66Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. Mostly though I have few issues. Just loaded Lion on my Mom’s 2006 17″ iMac and it also seems fine there. Any bug fixes will be welcome though.

  6. This update should be rolled out as early as physically possible once it is certified as solid. For me this is the last chance for Lion. I have a Late 2006 Intel iMac 2.0GHz 3.0GB RAM X1600 128MB and it is terribly unhappy since the upgrade. After not having a single kernel panic in over 3 years I have had multiple since the upgrade. This iMac runs pretty much 24/7 and is my primary machine. There is nothing screwy or fancy running on it. Email, word processing, web browsing, that’s pretty much it. If things don’t improve after this update then I’ll be rolling back to my clone from 10.6.8.

  7. I’m running a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 24″ iMac.
The only few minor problems I’m having are:
When after a restart, all my desktop icons are now “cleaned up”
    Hey I like a messy desktop! 🙂
I use Mission Control like the old Expose, and its kinda laggy.
It usually takes 1-5 clicks to get the window I select to come to the front.
When in the finder, sometimes a preview “large at that” will be distorted. Usually documents from Pages Version 4.1 “09”
Maybe the upgraded version will fix that.
Thats all I got after using it since day one.
My wifi connection is so much more consistent and reliable also! I way far away from the router.
I like it and it’s only going to get better!
Looking forward to more Apple updates, etc.
    Get well Steve
    You are my Hero!

  8. Well I have applied the latest build of 10.7.2 and Mail still crashes when trying to connect with Message Centre Exchange Server. They keep saying it works fine, Apple have no idea. I am running Lion on one test machine having reverted all my business Macs back to Snow Leopard. Like many many people out there, we believe that Lion is Apple’s Vista.

  9. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
Mac OS X Lion is by far the buggiest version of Mac OS X ever released. The comments on here so far prove it. Everyone who has posted has had major issues. Makes me realize how spoiled the previous versions of Mac OS X have made me. I expect much more from Apple because they usually deliver more. Not this time. I’ve had nothing but problems with Lion on a daily basis, wether it be with Safari stalling constantly or crashing, or the Finder not responding, or System Preferences taking forever to open, or QuickTime Player taking forever to load a movie, and on and on… Tuesday night, while trying to watch a movie, QuickTime Player just froze. I had to hard restart my MacBook (late 2007), and when the restart procedure started, a grey progress bar appeared, and just stayed there. I restarted again, and the same thing happened. I restarted into Lion’s Repair Mode or whatever it’s called, ran Disk Utility, and it informed me that my Mac OS X Install was fried and that I’d have to reinstall my software. Before this, my MacBook has been super stable since I bought it over four years ago. Lion has made me regret trusting Apple’s upgrade cycle. I was very happy with Snow Leopard, and since I have to reinstall anyway, I’m going to reinstall that instead of the dog that is Lion. I’ve made the decision to avoid Lion altogether. Way to go, Apple: You’ve ruined everything, Good thing I had Windows 7 installed under Boot Camp, and I am able to post this from that. How ironic, n’est-ce-pas?

    1. I have since reverted back to a fresh install of Snow Leopard after having backed up my Lion install and having reformatted my internal HD. I prefer SL to Lion anyday. It’s nice to be back in the smoothness and stability of Snow Leopard – the most perfect OS ever. Too bad Apple has tried to fix what wasn’t broken by breaking it.

  10. I have swapped from lion to windows 7. Never thought I would say it but win7 is better user experience and more reliable. Since I installed lion, mail no longer works correctly, errors sending mail all the time, screen corruption, hanging, beach balls everywhere. Does not restart from sleep. The list goes on and on. And what is that full screen option, Poorly applied eg mail in full screen is not multi tasking. Gone back to windows as win7 is a pleasure to work with compared to lion. Won’t be buying another MacBook. Apple you have gone from good (but over rated) to poor. Windows has gone from shocking (vista) to very good (win7)
