Apple debuts iPad 2 ‘Now’ TV ad (with video)

Apple has debuted “Now,” a new 30-second television commercial now airing on U.S. broadcast and cable networks.

The voiceover, by Peter Coyote, says:

Now we can watch a newspaper, listen to a magazine, curl up with a movie, and see a phone call.

Now we can take a classroom anywhere, hold an entire bookstore, and touch the stars… because, now, there’s this…

The spot then ends on a white background with black text: “ iPad 2.”

    1. Agreed. Apple will need to work on their brand messaging of they expect to compete in the tablet space. Far to subdued to compete with the Playbook and Xoom ads. 😉

    1. I live in sunny Florida, and I can read it in the sun. In iBooks turn on sepia and put the brightness high, it works well. I can also read it in the dark.  For other apps turn the brightness up in settings.

  1. I saw the new Samsung Galaxy S-2 add tonight on tv. It raved about have a dual core 1.2ghz CPU and it was the SMARTEST smart phone in the world!!! Confusing, too many apple references (like: break away from the crowd) and I just couldn’t help but to laugh. A crappy phone is still a crappy phone regardless of the hardware. If the software is polished, it will be great.

Apple ads: Short, simple, very polished….just like their products. They just work nicely. So well that no phone has even been able to match the elegance of the iPhone 3G yet!

  2. Reminds me of the ad with the father and son using FaceTime to introduce the now grandfather to his grand child. That was a great ad along with the one with the signing between a solder and his wife while overseas and on duty serving his country.

Great ads. Great products. Great future for Apple!

  3. I noticed the small letters that stated “FaceTime requires wifi” this caused huge controversy for iPhone and 3G iPad users. It may have been half the reason for this late advertisement.

    1. I’m pretty sure the WiFi requirement for FaceTime is AT&T’s doing. (and Verizon just copied it)
The Jailbreak community has apps that tell all apps that use 3G/WiFi that they are on WiFi. stops the 20mb limit on Apps from app store, HQ YouTube, FaceTime over 3G etc.

they found zero difference in quality between 3G and WiFi, and the file size was small. So they doubt it’s Apple restricting it. The one i used, which i can’t remember… was a pain to setup but worked great once it was. I think AT&T was/is worried that people will use Video calling instead of actual voice calling… and they would lose money. so they wanted to restrict it to WiFi.
or for all we know.. some FCC regulation says you can’t…

It will eventually be allowed on 3G/4G but i wouldn’t put the blame on Apple yet.
