She laid out the many failures of bin Laden to continue to lead the group and develop the organization. What’s more, she pointed out that the most effective recruiting technique they had was US torture of Arabs. Much, MUCH reduced in the time of Obama.
And yet I wonder, did this “more intelligent” Rachel offer any empirical PROOF to back up her assertion – or did she just pull it out of her liberal lesbian ass like usual?

Let’s say a group of psychotic Christian terrorists based in the U.S. infiltrates Canada and assassinates the Prime Minister for some utterly bullshit reason. So in response, Canada starts bombing the U.S. and invades it with ground troops to “root out” the terrorists. In the process of doing this, the Canadian military murders a shitload of civilians. Infact, the number of civilians killed absolutely dwarfs the number of crazy-ass terrorists killed(who are supposed to be the actual targets, mind).
As a U.S. citizen, you might find yourself getting slightly pissed off at Canada for that. However, because they don’t want to admit that either their government or military could ever do anything wrong, Canadians just shrug off the U.S.A’s outrage by saying “Attention, all liberals: U.S. citizens hate us because… WE ARE NOT U.S. CITIZENS! Everybody knows how those ignorant, xenophobic yanks detest foreigners. It’s been that way for 200 years, it’s a fundamental part of their culture. It’s got nothing to do with our invasion of their country and our wholesale, scattershot slaughter of their people or anything… It isn’t our fault they hate us, not even one tiny bit. Typical patronisation from a one track pony. The more enlightened may have notice the relative impotence of the organisation over the years has declined immensely and noticed how when it comes to political developments in the arab world, as most other places, the striving for freedom and real representation has completely sidelined al Qaeda who want the exact opposite. I agree that the real success of alQ is how they get the U.S. to over react, to the point where we begin to relinquish basic individual rights on the premise of national saftey alone. Foreign terrorism on domestic soil is no small matter, in fact I see it as an act of war, but let’s not take alQ acts of violence and use it as an excuse to turn on orselves.

Just because Osama bin Laden is dead doesn’t mean it’s the end of terrorism or that the war is over. Al Qaeda will have another leader and their are many other group like it. Odd how you speak of stagnate capital expenditures, since my current position is to help in the engineering upgrade of a small system to 750 MHz for better digital video, phone and internet. We are investing heavily for the size of the town, as we have done in other markets. In one system we ran our own fiber from a POP and quit buying bandwidth from others to double our headroom. That was gone in a matter of months without an appreciable increase in subs.

You can only upgrade so much.There, I said it again.
Any system can only be upgraded in relation to the ROA that system can generate.
Some systems are limited in the available bandwidth from the backbone. The extraordinary price to deliver more to some areas can put the brakes on expansion.
And in delivery, there is also a limit, even with a huge backhaul, backbone, or lease, in what equipment in the field can handle, no matter how much you spend.
Your solution seems to be to ‘throttle’ down areas to keep the bottleneck from occurring. I don’t think a business area would be particularly happy with that. But then the need shifts in the evening from the business area of town to the burbs and motels, convention centers and so forth, so the idea is to manage the bandwidth wisely. Our company is not looking at caps so much as tiers.
But what is odd is that you don’t seem to understand the subs who are constantly hogging bandwidth slow it down for others who only need it at specific times. Capping their amount is designed to make them consider a better use of their ISP. Of course, they may still use it during heavy traffic times, but if a system were put in place to encourage large DATA transfer be done during off-peak hours, that may help end some congestion.
That should be ‘ROI’, not ‘ROA’
