RUMOR: Apple developing 6-inch iPad models

“Apple is developing one or possibly two 6-inch versions of the iPad, a report from Czech site SuperApple.cz suggests,” Electronista reports.

“One source describes a model just under the 6-inch mark, while a separate source makes the specific claim of a 5.7-inch tablet,” Electronista reports. “Many details of the alleged product(s) remain unclear, such as whether or not Apple is committed to a 6-inch option or merely exploring it.”

Electronista reports, “SuperApple speculates that the new tablet could be released mid-year, but a more plausible release date might be the fall.”

  1. don’t you just luv it? bigger iphone, smaller iphone, bigger ipad, smaller ipad, 6″, 7″, bigger ipod touch. keep the competition guessing Steve, you’ve got them so freaked out they won’t even release their tablets and nokia teaming with msft. Stop it Steve my checks hurt and my sides are splitting.

  2. Everybody talk about smaller iPad, but i think this is completely wrong. If Apple has something with 6-7 inch screen in the work it will not be an iPad. Steve told this form is not suited for tablets, but why not design bigger iPod Touch? If someone wants music, iPod Nano or Shuffle is enough, but for video, Touch is a little to small, 7″ is ideal. I’ve played with Galaxy Tab and only for watching movies on the go it was better suited than iPad – it is lighter and smaller – more portable.

Just imagine iPod Touch in XXL format. The best portable video player and the best platform for personal navigation device and game console of course.

  3. NO, NO NO!!!! Didn’t anyone listen to Steve Jobs when he said a screen smaller than the current iPad’s screen makes a tablet useless?!?

Anything larger could be a new iPod touch model, like the iPod touch XL, but I seriously doubt it.

Perhaps it’s a new input device for the Mac (if it even exists at all).
