“A few minutes ago Apple posted a new GM seed in the iOS Developer Center. The build shows that it’s a GM seed for iOS 4.2.1, with build number 8C148,” Federico Viticci reports for MacStories.
“A reliable source informed us that Apple released this build internally last night, and it’s aimed at fixing major Exchange and audio issues,” Viticci reports. “Our source also tells us Apple might just release iOS 4.2.1 to the public next week — thus skipping iOS 4.2 altogether. We don’t know for sure yet.”

“iOS4 brings products to where they should have been years ago???” The iPhone itself is barely “years” old. Are you really pissed that they didn’t ship the Original iPhone with a 4th generation OS???? And the original iPad should have had an OS that wasn’t even available to any platform until 3 months after its debut.
They said November, they are working out the bugs. Get over it. If they shipped it with bugs, you’d be complaining even more. Let them do their jobs.

Trust me, 4.2 is unstable as hell. Safari’s JavaScript causes hellacious crashes and it was not ready for prime time. The good news is that it is the only real bug that’s crawling.
Oh well, I fully didn’t expect to see it before the 30th, anyway.
