I would hope that you educate your son to not automatically assume that people with a Facebook and Twitter need to “take a shower” and “meet someone [they can] actually shake hands with”. I don’t care if you speak your mind, more power to you, but show respect.

  2. Hasn’t Apple watched MySpace? Having a social network that’s primary angle is music is not enough. They must have been expecting the Facebook integration. Still, this whole Ping thing is Lame.

    APPLE YOU MUST UNBLOAT iTUNES!

I have been reading all the new studies about how people that are right in to social networking are more narcissistic than average. this whole social networking is keeping Kids at the computer for too long in the day. The computer was/is meant to be a tool, NOT YOUR LIFE.

And I will teach him that this kind of thing can be very bad. When a 14 year old needs a cell phone to get on facebook to find out how her friends date at the movies went, it’s too much. Way too much.

Kids from my day were fine, and there was none of this. you wanted to know what was going on, you made an effort to find out.

  6. Some of us have real jobs & lives and see little, if any, value in social networking. The reason the media pimps it so hard is:
    a) They try to be hip by hopping on every trend.
    b) Corporations get deep market research for little, if anything cost wise.
