  1. No I don’t use Ping.

I use iTunes chiefly as a music manager like it was intended for my 10,000 song library. No TV or movie rentals, Netflix is the way to go for that.

If it didn’t need Sound Check combined with iVolume to level the songs volumes, I would have used something less bloated and overweight with superfluous processor, privacy and memory hogging crap. Like Coverflow, Visualizer, Genius, Ping etc…please give us a option to turn off all that crap from loading!

The Mac also has optical audio output, which makes iTunes the ideal way to output to a high end audio sound system. Enable surround sound mode and your in music bliss.

  3. All I want is the ability to remove any mention of PING and let those of us who don’t want a social network within our music collection have our music the way we want (and deserve) It. With something like this Apple should give loyal users of iTunes a choice without having to use AppleScript and turning off the parental control for the iTunes Store. I have all but removed any mention of PING but no more iTunes store while I have v10.01

  5. I tried to follow about 6 artists and none of them could be found so I un-signed up.
It is like unripe fruit that will go bad before it matures.
    I wanted to like it – but I don’t.

  7. I’ve signed up but haven’t subscribed to any bands or anything yet as I don’t want my real name attached to it. If they’d allow us to use a different screen name (like Bartsimpsonhead) then I’d use it, but until then I’m keeping off it.

  9. I should say one needs a TOSLink mini to TOSlink adapter cable to avoid magnetic and electronic interference from the Mac to the high end audio system.

Be prepared to be blow away with the quality of your true iTMS quality downloads. The iPod and a pair of headphones really sucks in comparison.

  11. @ David. I just fed my 3 year old son breakfast. It’s only 8:00 am here.

Why do you need to reply to my comment that yo didn’t like? You like SN’s and I don’t, so what?

Have you ever read the comments here before? I’m not the problem around here.

  13. No, I haven’t used Ping. If Apple came out with a social network that was about Apps, TV shows, movies, etc I would use that. But, a social network just about music? Nah, doesn’t interest me.

I would hope that you educate your son to not automatically assume that people with a Facebook and Twitter need to “take a shower” and “meet someone [they can] actually shake hands with”. I don’t care if you speak your mind, more power to you, but show respect.
