“Microsoft workers celebrated the release to manufacturing of Windows Phone 7 last week by parading through their Redmond campus with iPhone and BlackBerry hearses,” Tom Warren reports for Neowin.
“Employees dressed up in fancy dress and also modified cars to include Windows Phone branding,” Warren reports. “Aside from the crazy outfits the workers made fake hearses for giant BlackBerry and iPhone devices. Employees cheekily claimed they had buried the competition with Windows Phone 7.”
Warren reports, “Windows Phone 7 is expected to be available in late October for those in Europe and November for those in the US.”

Okay, TGIF! Hoist! May Steve Ballmer remain Microsoft CEO for as long as it takes!

First: theloniousMac…. You know that only the first part of that graph (the section that shows iPhone market share climbing right along with Android) is actual and the rest is speculation right?
Second: Although this was a stupid display, microsoft supports the largest group of developers in the world. And eventhough I’m convinced that they will screw this up, if they can actually make a reasonable path for porting Windows code to Windows Phone 7 there is every reason to believe we will see a very active development cycle.
In 2007 Apple stripped down OS X to it’s bare minimum and added a solid touch interface. By 2008 Apple opened that OS for developers and inched it closer to OS X. 2009 and 2010 saw the hardware and OS again push forward to the point that the lines started to blur between the abilities of desktop OS and portable OS. Microsoft may have just waited till there was less stripping away to do and released once near parity between mobile and desktop could be achieved.
Again, I think MS is fooling themselves trying to re-enter this late in the game but I also see the possibilities and this game is far from over. (well except for Blackberry, I think they really are finished).
These people are on crack. I have not heard one positive developer review of Windows Phone 7.
Still, gotta applaud their enthusiasm, however misplaced it might be.
See if this was an apple event the video would have been in 720p. LOL
Wouldn’t it be funny if it was filmed on a iphone?
Not the first time Apple’s product, strategies or management is counted for dead :
http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/death_knell/
TMO counts 54 entries in its death knells roster and most of them happened when Apple was in difficult times yet here they are alive and kicking (ass)
People never learn.
This is so pathetic! I’m going to burn my HTC Touch with Windows mobile 6.5 os!
Microsoft sucks in my opinion. I never thought they could sink so low to bury an iPhone.
I got an iPhone 3GS, MacBook Pro and a iPod Nano.
I hate Microsoft!
