“Microsoft workers celebrated the release to manufacturing of Windows Phone 7 last week by parading through their Redmond campus with iPhone and BlackBerry hearses,” Tom Warren reports for Neowin.
“Employees dressed up in fancy dress and also modified cars to include Windows Phone branding,” Warren reports. “Aside from the crazy outfits the workers made fake hearses for giant BlackBerry and iPhone devices. Employees cheekily claimed they had buried the competition with Windows Phone 7.”
Warren reports, “Windows Phone 7 is expected to be available in late October for those in Europe and November for those in the US.”

And then they did this:
MacDailyNews Take: Unmitigated hubris from the perennially outclassed and hopelessly mismanaged. Par for the course.
Okay, TGIF! Hoist! May Steve Ballmer remain Microsoft CEO for as long as it takes!

Wow. I guess you’d better celebrate now before Windows Phone 7 gets shipped on actual devices and the sales numbers start to come in…
Microsoft’s true competition for Windows Phone 7 is not iPhone or Blackberry, it’s Android. Windows Phone 7 and Android are going after the same “customers” – hardware makers who are too lazy to develop their own smart phone OS. iPhone customers who keep buying iPhones instead of one of the numerous existing Android phones are not going to go out and buy a Windows Phone 7 phone. So Microsoft needs to aim for current and potential Android users. And I hope Windows Phone 7 is seen as a viable alternative to Android by the hardware makers. Because the more ‘fragmentation” there is out there in the REST of the smart phone space, the better it is for Apple
But I feel bad for the “Microserfs.” Some manager probably thought this was a good idea and made them participate and embarrass themselves, with covert iPhones buried deep in their pockets.
I like the strategy… I like it vewy vewwy much… ehehheehhheehh
I hope WP7 does well, I just don’t think it will. It will be interesting though to see how they leverage their PC influence to bring back all those vendors from the Android field. Any one in the WP7/Android model should be worried including Android. Don’t forget how controlling MS can be over their vendors when they want to. While Android and WP7 fight over vendors, Apple is going to continue to Kill them through innovation and unification of the new world of iDevices. Take for instance their new technology of AirPlay and FaceTime…
Uhh yeah. They compare iPhones to Android devices. Not iOS devices. If you factor in how many iPod Touches, and iPads, the growth rate is not as flattering for Android…
Windows Phone 7 will be great.
iOs – a closed system micromanaged by Steve Jobs – is doomed, soon only to be appreciated by his most loyal sycophants.
It will be a niche operating system for MacFreaks. Have fun!
Thank you, Steve Ballmer. Without you, Apple might not be in the leading position they are in!
Whistling past the graveyard!
You think Microsoft is a little late in the phone biz?
All these Googloids trolls get paid my their master to come here and post stupid googloid propaganda.
How pathetic!
Similarly important news from another part of town…
Someone’s cat got caught on the tree for a couple of hours.
@ IPhone user
> You think Microsoft is a little late in the phone biz?
Late? Are you kidding? They were among the first in the “smart phone” business. They just squandered their position away to almost nothing, so it seems like they are now just entering the “biz.”
@diskgeinder
Yep. She definitely looks like she has one.
Wow, get a life!
And just what one feature does this phone have that the iPhone and Adroid don’t have?
Bagpipes?!! I can’t thing of anything that summarizes Windows Mobile more accurately! Arrgh! – The painful squealing, a bunch of gangly pipes poking out in all directions, and held together by a bag full of hot air.
It’s enow to make me cry!
Windows Phone 7 will only eat Android sales.
diskgrinder. SOOOOO funny!
Good for them! I’m hoping MS has improved their OS, as the other attempts have left me totally inoperable for many hours at my place of employment. I still have no iPhone, and still use Verizon, but will switch if Verizon ever gets the iPhone. Too many issues with Sprint and At and T where I live to sign with them. Some competition is never bad, and some humor never hurt anyone. BTW, Mac user since 1984 here. Still have Word and Excel 1.0 floppies as well though.
And at this stage, as far we actually know, Windows Phone 7 is still vapourware.
Maybe its spec. sheet will be named “Best CES Smartphone of 2011”!
Microsoft Kin = dead
On to more MS incompetence.
Noticed looking through the pictures on the site that they even copy Apple’s iPhone OS 2.0 roadmap sign.
BTW don’t 10% of MS employees have iPhones anyway? Roughly 10,000.

I wouldn’t be surprised if those pictures were taken with an iPhone
You have got to be Fscking. Kidding. Me.
I’m so glad I work at home. >.<
Just in case anyone is wondering… Yes. They really are like this.
pretty pathetic really… they do this after banning their employees from having Apple products on campus.
This is like a car accident… I can’t stop staring.
