Apple today released iOS 4.0.1.

Apple’s release note for iOS 4.0.1 state that the update “improves the formula to determine how many bars of signal strength to display.”
Get the update via iTunes now (unless you’re running 4.1 beta, in which case 4.0.1 won’t show up, of course).
Apple also released iOS 3.2.1 for iPad which addresses a number of issues, including:
• Improved Wi-Fi connectivity
• Fixed an issue that could prevent copy and paste of single-page PDF attachments in Mail
• Addressed an issue that could cause video playback to freeze
• Improved reliability of video-out when using iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter
• Added Bing as an option for Safari’s search field
Get the update via iTunes now.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Manny S.” for the heads up.]
Fix the frigging proximity sensor issue already.
@ Cubert
Thats exactly what it is. The idiot wants Android, and is using this as a reason why we need to ditch the iPhones. We had been planning upgradins all the old iPhone 3G (non GS) to iPhone 4’s. Its looking bad.
Exchange fixes (killing the spurious connections made by iOS4) are being delayed to prolong the agony and irritate the decision makers….
arghhh
I like it. Now I’m waiting for the update to STFU the FUD Hit Whoaring so called Journalist Bloggers!
Downloading this update is some acknowledgement that Apple has done something for beleaguered iP4 owners. It doesn’t do anything at all for us. I don’t want it, I don’t need it, I won’t install it.
I want a replacement for my phone that does not send or receive reliable signals nor does it support phone calls. I expect that’s what I’ll get tomorrow.
hello where is iPad multitasking?! Ugh.
Wow, 30 to download, serious
@Fred West: Sounds like an IT guy who needs to be fired. *Poof* Exchange server issues gone.
@No Thanks: Who are you, Steve Ballmer’s brother? My iPhone is perfect.
What would I want a bumper for? It won’t protect the glass front or back of the phone and it makes my phone incompatible with most accessories, including the new iPhone 4 dock.
I shouldn’t have to pay more money or have to add a bulky case to my thin, sexy new PHONE, just to get it to make PHONE calls.
Rush Limbaugh has always been a great defender/user of Apple products and Steve Jobs. What’s new about that?
Cubert – Thanks for the straight answer.
Does the signal still drop dramatically when the phone is held the ‘wrong way’ like it did before?
It did MOT affect My iPhone 4. It still works perfect!
@No Thanks: you should probably just go ahead and return your iP4 and get something that makes you happier. I seriously doubt you are getting a replacement tomorrow.
@Fred West…
If you know this chances are the decision makers do too. If they don’t perhaps you should enlighten them…
“Improved reliability of video-out when using iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter”
nice… I drive two vga progectors every week and this has been a bit of an issue.
correction – projectors
To all the naysayers… iPhone 4.0.1 has completely fixed the antenna issue on my phone. I had previously noticed the so-called death grip. But after installing 4.0.1 the problem completely vanished. Right on Apple. I never doubted for a second.
@Bream Rockmetteller
THANK YOU. Fell off my chair. Nothing like a good pun.
Antenna issue completely fixed… Via software fix as stated originally by Apple.
I just did the update, took 5 minutes. No change in signal strength, still 4 bars here in the office.
The bars are each a little taller, the strength indication a little more selective with a wide range before changing.
Apps open faster and noticed bar change on 3G network. 5 to 4 and on edge remains at 5. Meanwhile battery continues to drain while using wi-fi only. This is with regard to to 3Gs I mentioned in earlier posts.
@ breeze:
Limbaugh always supports Apple, always praises their new products, etc. What do you mean hell froze over? Limbaugh is grade A Apple fanboy. He just happens to express it in a forum that costs other companies about $20,000 per minute.
Sounds like if this “fix” was in place from Day One, there never would have been any “antenna issue” hysteria. The problem was perception, not reception.
Still, Apple would not call a press conference and gather the media on 1.5 days notice, just to say, here’s the software fix; thanks for attending… The “reception” was never a real problem, but the “perception” still needs to be fixed.
