“For Scott Lahman, Apple’s soon-to-launch iPad tablet computer could be the next big thing,” Jefferson Graham reports for USA Today. “Really.”
“His company, Gogii, produces the TextPlus app for the iPhone, which lets folks send text messages free, bypassing the phone network,” Graham reports. “It has been downloaded more than 5 million times.”
Graham reports, “The iPad, a 9.7-inch touch-screen computer that Apple touts as a multimedia e-reader and mobile Web surfer, is set to launch April 3, starting at $499. It is an understatement to say that Lahman, and thousands of other developers who created programs for the iPhone, are excited about the possibilities. ‘If there ever was a space to do some land-grabbing in, this is it,”‘ says Lahman, Gogii’s CEO.”
Graham reports, “USA Today will have an iPad app available on April 3. It will be free for the first 90 days, sponsored by Courtyard by Marriott. After that, USA TODAY will announce subscription pricing.”

USA Today is worse than the Enquirer
“Revolutionary”? LOL. Its not that. No multitasking. No flash. No thanks.
@rich
You see, that is exactly what is revolutionary!
Rich,
You’re missing the point. Is that rock you are “choosing” to stay under getting heavy?
Rich,
I’m absolutely sure that, somewhere, at this very moment, there is a tear in Steve Jobs’ eye over the loss of your business.
Rich = forum plant disguised as troll to stimulate conversation.
No Rich, you are exactly right. To the blind Apple Fanboys, please explain to me what exactly the point is then?
Name me a single revolutionary feature of the iPad that isn’t already in another product. How is a larger version of the iPod touch revolutionary?
If I wanted a color eReader, I’ll buy the next itteration of the KINDLE which will feature a non-backlight color screen (for those of us who don’t hate ourselves and read novels on bright backlight screens that hurt our eyes).
If I want to surf the web (the entire web, not just some lame portion ~15% that doesn’t use flash) then I’ll use my Macbook pro.
Apple Fanboy Reality Distortion FIeld: Revolutionary is:
4:3 aspect ratio – because who isn’t nostalgic for TV aspect ratios that dominated the 1980’s. Hey, it’s iPad Time Machine everybody…
No Flash: 85% of the video content on the internet is over rated anyway. You only need 15% of content, plus who doesn’t LOVE getting broken flash graphics where video and pictures would otherwise show up. Apple loves including them in their product videos. They love showing off how lame it will be.
No HDMI: Who needs high definition, anyway
No Multitasking: Running more then one app at a time is so 2000…who doesn’t like serial computing like it’s 1999.
No Camera: Wouldn’t it be nice to webconference with your lame bro using his lame macbook pro to tell him how cool your new shiny iPad is. Oh, wait…
There’s an Adapters for that: SD card adapter to load your photos [$29]. Dongle adapter to attach a keyboard – but only in lame potrait mode [$69]. Adpater to make a simple USB connection [$29]. Being able to carry around an enterouge of expensive adapters to just do basic compting tasks that any $200 netbook can do in it’s sleep: Priceless.
Rich and Playnice,
Two laughable and fun trolls who come out from under their MS bridge every now and then to try and bring ups humor and a sunnier day.
Or just two paid trolls. Funny I cannot tell the difference. And of course they are right. My little bicycle (personal transportation device) just sucks cause it will not carry 4 people nor haul a 5th wheeler with 6 tons of dirt…….. Yep, just not a very inexpensive personal transport device at all.
Just a light thought on a thursday morn.

It continues to amaze me that posters like yourself who have absolutely no substance in their post other then the predictable indictment of “troll” expect that they don’t sound like total morons.
How about you address any of the statements (not insults) about the weaknesses of the iPad product instead of hiding behind insults. Are you 5 years old?
BTW, I own an item from almost every mac product line, and have probably been using macs longer then you’ve been alive – but the fact that I have a dissenting opinion simply means that I’m a “troll” in your very small mind.
