RUMOR: Apple TV update to enable direct purchases of HD TV shows

“Apple is already at work on an update to deliver HD TV shows to the Apple TV, anonymous sources claim,” MacNN reports.

“The release of iTunes 8 brought with it HD-quality shows, which can be viewed either on a computer or an Apple TV; the latter device cannot download HD shows directly however, despite supporting the option for movies,” MacNN reports.

“A software update for Apple TVs is said to be in progress,” MacNN reports.

We consider this one a “RUMOR” in name only as Apple simply has to be working on this (in fact, they should have released it at the same time as iTunes 8, in our opinion).

  1. I just got burned by this. Wow. How confusing. Apple really needs to better inform it’s customers about the ever changing capabilities of their products. I saw the shows on iTunes in HD and went home and purchased a season on my AppleTV. Convenient, but now I learn it’s only the standard version.

Bozo mistake, but that sucks. I hope they will refund me and allow me to download the HD version. If not, blu-ray is looking better all the time. Who needs all this can can’t do BS.

Apple should have sent out an email to their customers explaining the limitations of their new offerings.

  2. 9. I’d love ATV to become something more, but it’s cool anyway and I use it frequently. One more thing though… I soo wish it had DivX support… ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  3. Ok! I think “MacBill” get´s the point. As of now there is already 10 AppleTV owners in here. Maybe the remaining 10 is on holiday and never saw this segment??? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

AppleTV is here to stay and it will evolve into an even greater product! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
