Apple releases Front Row 2.1.6

Apple today released Front Row 2.1.6 which provides improved iTunes 8.0 compatibility and bug fixes.

Front Row 2.1.6 requires a Macintosh computer with:
• Mac OS X v10.5 or later
•• QuickTime 7.5.5 or later
•• iTunes 6.0.4 and iPhoto 6.0.2 or later

Front Row 2.1.6 is available via Software Update and also as a standalone installer.

More info and download link (12.5MB) here.

  1. Why does Front Row always have to lag one generation behind the AppleTV? Front Row as it is now is nearly useless. Can’t buy music, can’t browse the itunes store for podcasts, still has the old clunky menu system from AppleTV 1.0, and no Youtube.

  2. @ hopefully

  3. It’s sort of annoying — when you download an HD TV show, it also downloads the SD version. However, in Front Row, there’s nothing that indicates which is which. I understand why Apple includes both versions (so that you can play it on an iPod or iPhone), but it seems like there’s a better way of doing this than to show two separate files.
