Yeah, as an actual journalism student at Mizzou, I can confirm that this photo is most likely real – I see and experience this on a daily basis, we really are all on Macs. Gets pretty ridiculous at times. It’s the science/business classes that lean more towards PCs.
Just for the record, PC’s can do pretty much everything a Mac can. They just don’t do it as well. A Yugo had an engine and four wheels and could get you from point A to point B but that didn’t make it a BMW.
This is a pretty atypical situation. The class almost never looks like this. Most of us still use our notebooks. Actual notebooks.
Our professor asked us one day to bring our computers to class so a picture could be taken of everyone with their Mac computers, which is almost the official computer of the School. And yeah, I’d hate to be the guy with the Dell.

Zune Tang is right. In addition to the ‘red-eye reduction’ filter, the Clone Retouching tool in Photoshop for Windoze automatically clones out PC laptops from your photos, replacing them with far more photogenic MacBook Pros.
It’s not a fake! The Missouri School of Journalism really pushes its students to get Macs. The whole university is really Mac-based, and only a certain few departments encourage their students to use PCs. The classroom setting above isn’t the norm. Sure there are kids with their Macs, but there isn’t any one time like this where, unless staged as this was, you can find everyone on their Macbooks as in this picture.
It was just a prompt. The professor asked us to do it for a photo op.
This picture is totally fake. There is no way that a lecture that big gets that good of attendance!! Loving the macs tho.
This is an introductory course at the Missouri School of Journalism. For freshman. The School nearly requires Macs, or at least pushes them. Check journalism.missouri.edu and look for computer requirements. They basically downplay the PC as much as possible.
You guys are really embarrasing yourselves when you claim this was photoshopped or a fake. I was there. Five hundred kids were there. This isn’t how it always is… the prof just wanted everyone to take a picture like this.

It’s a fake. Unless:
a. All Apple laptops have highly reflective logos. Many are too bright for the lighting.
b. Apple makes green and red MacBooks.

anyone who owns a mac will know that the logo becomes lit once the computer is turned on.
and apple DOES see that kind of market share when a department or school mandates (practically) the use of a certain computer. it’s a real classroom, with real students, using the computers the missouri school of journalism prefers their students to use. and when i say “prefers,” i mean they might as well make it mandatory because they make their preference KNOWN.

Rigged. Journalism has always been somewhat Mac Centric because they aren’t technical. Macs have always done layouts and fonts better than Windows with less work. It’s not representative. It’s how to lie with pictures (subset of how to lie with statistics.
Look at all those mac drone idiots. Spent all that money for a paperweight when you can get a Alienware or any other laptop for about half the price with a bigger screen and way more power.
