A lecture hall photo taken recently at The Missouri School of Journalism is worth a thousand words:

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Busting . . . .
Even the most successful comedians change their acts after a certain point, for crying out loud. PuneTang has SO outlived his entertainment value it’s pathetic. But then again, an old dog is the last to smell his own farts.
magic word : “church”
Man, when I graduated 2 years ago from college, I was one of the only people carrying a Mac laptop. Things are changing….
This looks like a wonderful advertising opportunity for Apple – Macintosh computers being used for higher education.
“pointless”… as I said.
@ Zune Tang
Over 40% of Adobe’s sales are for the Mac platform. The number is also growing.
Basty,
I’m a photojournalist and I’m unaware of any software for journalists that is only available on Mac. If anything, the newsrooms of the 90’s went through a terrible spell of custom-written windoze-only software for entire newsrooms which I’m sure they’re regretting now.
nopw that’s pure preference in that photo. and it doesn’t look like Photoshop to me, though I can’t explain the red Macbooks.
The red macbooks have the Speck cases on them. I’ve seen quite a few student aged folk at coffee shops with them. Apparently the Speck hard cases are popular with them (I personally don’t get it).
Hmmm…
Not to be sexist (or dismissive of all those logos) but there are some really cute chicks there.
it’s definitely not fake. i’ve seen it with my own eyes. it’s amazing.
here’s another pic, by the way:
and the colored macbooks are either colorware or cases
I feel sorry for the kids who have no laptops, no…. wait, I feel more sorry for the ones who have Window’s laptops!
: )
What’s most alarming about this pic is that the woman in blue on the right of the front row appears to be giving birth to a baby zebra!!
University of Missoui School of Journalism highly recommends (i.e. nearly requires) students to get a mac. The picture is no different than if you dropped in on one of the hundreds of classrooms in America where the school system bought Macs for the kids.
That being said.. almost all my friends buy Macs now.
That is the most beautiful picture I have seen in a long time. LOL
@Listen you fscking idiots… you are a pompous ass …. and Zune Tang long ago became boring and far from funny … same ole same ole …
Well never see that recommendation out of our tech department. Billy Gates payed us too much for a whole building here. Gotta keep those donors in dollars so they keep donating those dollars.
But the Mac share is gaining on it’s own power without their help.
an amazing amount of my Windows suffering friends are now switching or have already switched to Mac… all of them seem so incredibly relieved. as if they have finally escaped an incredibly embarrasing siituation
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
I wouldn’t be surprised to see this in ‘real’ life… but I must say it does look a lot like a Photoshop composition.
I wish Tom Cruise would weigh in. If any body knows the history of journalist computer use, he does. I know I don’t.
Tom? Are you out there?
Enlarge the pic by clicking on it. You’ll see that all (4!) who own a PC are staring at their neighbours Mac screen…
that may be a fake, but i kid you not, on my dorm floor probably 60% of the new freshmen showed up with macbooks. another 15% with mac book pros.
Sigh! I remember taking my B-School quant final at HBS, where all the students had IBM Thinkpads back in 1991. Of course, I was over at the Public Policy school, and lugged my Mac SE, across the river, to take the exam. I actually had to write my own Black-Scholes option pricing model in Excel, since the application handed out was PC-only! Kids have it easy today!
This photo is not a fake. The Missouri School of Journalism recommends Apple laptops and more than 99% of students at the school choose Apple laptops. See the school’s website here:

Why I’m Not Worried!!!!!

My worst nightmare averted! Jobs says No to OSX running on non-Apple PCs! WHEW!
I admit it, for a while there I was scared that Jobs was going to announce that their next candy-coated OSX (Leotard) would run on any PC hardware! My fears were abated when I heard him say this:
“Our goal is to make the best personal computers in the world and make products we are proud to sell and recommend to our family and friends. …. But there’s some stuff in our industry that we wouldn’t be proud to ship. And we just can’t do it. We can’t ship junk,…. There are thresholds we can’t cross because of who we are. And we think that there’s a very significant slice of the [market] that wants that too. … We don’t offer stripped-down, lousy products.”
THANK GOODNESS he still has a bad attitude like that and it sounds like he will never change! I hope he stays CEO of Apple forever.
There’s quite clearly visual artefacts around the logos on these laptops – so there HAS been some work here. No one doubts Apple’s presence, but, FFS acknowledge a joke when you see it.
