“Some analysts claimed that the iPhone launch would be a failure if Apple failed to sell 100,000 iPhones during the first weekend. Based upon the limited data we have, we believe that number was exceeded in just the first two to three hours. Blackfriars’ prediction is that Apple will sell 500,000 iPhones this weekend, and based upon limited sales rates reported, that number now looks quite achievable,” Carl Howe writes for Blackfriars’ Marketing.
“The only question is whether the demand and iPhone supply is great enough that they might push past the million unit mark this weekend,” Howe writes.

Motorola and Verizon soon to announce the Pink SLIP?
The AT&T received more than one delivery. The Huntsville, Alabama stores received phones Friday and Saturday.
They sold out of both orders.
The Nashville Apple receive a supply Friday, which lasted through this morning. They received another shipment today, which is to go on sell tomorrow at 9 AM.
@MDN take
In the United States a Pink Slip = To be fired or to loose one’s job.
Motorola and Verizon are watching their customers fade into the iphone haze.
No iphone for me yet, It’s only a matter of time. So long Verizon.
Can you say class action lawsuit? There are so many problems with this phone that I don’t even know where to start. One group has already threatened Apple that if they don’t replace batteries for free. I suspect that there will be tens and perhaps hundreds of lawsuits as people find out how brain dead and useless this phone really is. And wait until you find out how much Apple/ATT is going to charge you if you want to cancel service (hang on to your wallet).
Maybe this will be the ultimate undoing for Apple. After a zillion of lawsuits they will finally have to stop stealing ideas from Microsoft and give the investor money back before closing the doors in Cupertino.
Um, how long did it take Microsoft to sell that many Zunes?
LOL!

Dude, do you own one, or have you even used one in a store yet? If not then you can’t claim their are issues with them.
“One group has already threatened Apple that if they don’t replace batteries for free.”
Dumb ass concept, was an owner of a Treo 600 with no removable battery, don’t remember lawsuits because of it. Though of course I have owned a Treo 650 since they were released and have yet to remove or replace the battery, and guess what I am replacing the 650 with the iPhone, hence will never need to replace the battery…
“I suspect that there will be tens and perhaps hundreds of lawsuits as people find out how brain dead and useless this phone really is. “
Yeah, I guess I should suit Nokia, Moto, Palm and the rest of the companies I have owned cell phones from as they were a lot more useless than the iPhone ever will be.
“And wait until you find out how much Apple/ATT is going to charge you if you want to cancel service (hang on to your wallet).”
Hmm probably exactly the same amount that Verizon is charging me to cancel my service early with them, but being I am saving $30/month for unlimited data, and currently I am getting better download speeds from my new iPhone on EDGE then I am Verizon’s network on my 650 using their “high speed” network…
Go troll somewhere else, people who don’t own, have not touched or used a product, nor have any intent on using, simply have no room to talk about the failures of a product that has not failed in any way…
“And wait until you find out how much Apple/ATT is going to charge you if you want to cancel service (hang on to your wallet).”
After 30 days, $175.00 with wallet intact.
Any more brainless FUD?
About two hours ago I was talking with an att representative trying to get my iPhone activated. She kept apologizing and said over a million iPhones had been sold and that is what is causing such a delay with activations.
The Washington Square Apple store (Beaverton, Oregon) had plenty of both versions when I went in first thing this morning. (OK, ‘first thing’ meaning 10am when the mall opened!)
Activation took 2-3 minutes via iTunes, adding the data plan to our existing AT&T account with no issues.
So far so good. The cell reception seems a bit weak, but it’s too early to really tell how it performs. Certainly looks nice, and the Google Maps is very impressive, especially for instant directions and road conditions.
Has anyone else noticed that it gets a little toasty – as in warm after some use? When putting it up to your ear it’s quite warm. Anyone?
Possibly the display? Not sure.
“Has anyone else noticed that it gets a little toasty – as in warm after some use? When putting it up to your ear it’s quite warm. Anyone?”
But not any more than my Treo 700p so not too worried about it. Generally I think its the combination of the backlight, the act of holding it, and the fact that the electronics are being used so do generate some heat. Want to feel warm, recharge a Treo that was almost drained of battery power… MAN, now that is warm.
I read somewhere that Apple was launching the product with #-million phones, so I doubt if sales will be under 1-million. Trickier is to estimate the mix of the two varieties. MW:income!
3-million
I waited in line for three hours but when I finally got to the front I didn’t see Randy, Paula or Simon anywhere.
What a letdown.

You’ve been talking into your toaster again.
Turn it down to lightly brown. You’ll be fine.
SO CAN YOU CREATE RINGTONES FOR FREE OR IS IT PAID?
“DUDE to people who are being smart buying apple I bought it back at 66 in sep. SKILZ”
Mine are at 10. PWNED!
@Ringtone

You can create free ringtones from mp3s. The recording industry prevents creating ringtones from DRM-protected songs, such as songs bought from iTunes…(unless, of course, you convert them to mp3s first).
500,000 seems like a lot. But as many have posted their is a difference between ordered and delivered.
They can sell many more than stock on hand, it is called a back order.
And actually ow many has the Apple Online Store sold? None of us know a “girl” who said “like, umm we sold a thousand or a hundred thousand today” who works online.
I suspect AT&T will be the ones who finally lets us know how many physical units were sold when they tell Wall Street how many new accounts they received over the weekend
Enjoy
So from iTunes 7.3 you can create ringtones for the iPhone if they are not protected?
You guys are low balling the sales. I think Apple made 3.5 million of these, and will sell out of them easily by the end of the first week.
I’m hoping to replace my Treo 650 with an iPhone. I can FINALLY get the address book and calendar to sync properly then!
C1,
Which ELO album are you listening to?
