In addition, Verizon Wireless and Sprint have been pushing their 3G phones more aggressively than AT&T, and stand to lose business if those new phones are restricted.
AT&T, meanwhile, is less dependent on 3G phones.
Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iPhone, for example, is a 2G phone unaffected by the ban.
Analysts believe AT&T may gain a competitive edge if the ban goes through. (and the iPhone!)
Stifel Nicolaus’ Arbogast said she thinks it could take between a year to two years for the companies to develop a “work-around,” with sales of handsets affected in the meantime.
Lucky Apple huh?
MDW: “figures” It figures!
For those of you who care, here’s a link to VMware’s answer to “coherance”, called “unity”:
This video was release a day or two ago. It looks like the honeymoon is over for Parallels.

@Ralph Megna
How do you get Parallels to work with the “bootcamp” installation? I won’t work for me.
–M
Macsweep — When you create a virtual machine, Parallels asks if you want to use an existing Boot Camp installation. Key word here is “existing.” Boot Camp and Windows XP or Vista must already be installed BEFORE you install Parallels and create the VM. The order in which I described the installation in a previous post wasn’t arbritrary, it is required. If you are having trouble working with an existing Boot Camp installation, I would suggest uninstalling Parallels and then reinstalling.
The real “honeymoon” will be over when VMWare announces that the price for Fusion is going to be far more than what Parallels costs, even though they both basically do the same thing…
@ OMFG!!! Update, all is well!!
So, kind of a high tech Forrest Gump story?
Gotcha.
@ FUDsucker Proxy
I am indeed a girl. It was a reference to a cultural meme, Phil Heartman’s “Caveman Lawyer”.
Carry on.

Hey, I’m in Bulgaria right now and headed back to the states tomorrow afternoon. Maybe I’ll but a 1/2 dozen 3G phones and bring them back as “gifts”. They might actually subsidize my trip!
Taking orders…
C1, so now it’s only real ‘cos YOU checked it out? Give OMFG!!! so credit, jeez.
@ eyeroll
Okay, so, “OMFG!!!” didn’t quite get the story right until their 3rd post, so forgive me if I demand a bit more validation that the average Engadget reader. This ban has enormous implications – it manes that, effectively, the iPhone will have no new competition for a while. And rather than just run with that, I thought I’d look into it.
So, by all means, Thank you, “OMFG!!!”, for bringing this to my attention.
