“My Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Apple precludes me from revealing proprietary detail, but because most, if not all, of this is posted elsewhere and is commonly available, I have no problems with confirming the following,” “technosaints” writes on the OSx86 Project Forum.
Some highlights of “technosaints” long list:
• During the Leopard install, you are given the option to create specific partitioning to accommodate M$ Vista and Linux. Reformatting your HD is not required. Depending on your processor and RAM, all OS’s can run simultaneously & independently. A (minimum) 150 GB HD is required (250 GB is recommended), and 2 GB RAM (minimum) should you wish to run more than one OS. Dual processors are required for optimum performance, though this may change in 10.5.1 or 10.5.2.
• The Dock will be much different. One new feature is that as icons are added, they will automatically migrate/expand around the screen as needed (or, you can reduce the size of the icons as presently done). Also, multiple docks are an option as is the amount of “bounce” desired in those dock apps launching or needing your attention. There is an accompanying bounce sound, a boing-boing sort of thing.
• Hooks are built-in to support an Apple PDA, but I can say no more.
• You can have 3 ‘Finder’ windows open simultaneously, much like having 3 displays, all running different applications or OS’s. If networked, any 3 computers can be displayed. Depending on the function/application, you can even Drag & Drop between displays.
• Mail, Address Book, iCal, iSight, and iChat will become one integrated application, much like Entourage (but better).
• An across the board speed increase of 35 – 40%.
• Sherlock has been eliminated (use Widgets instead).
• Numerous (other) bug fixes, including a totally rewritten Spotlight.
“Leopard will be previewed in June at the WWDC and released in early November,” “technosaints” writes. However, Apple is scheduled to hold World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC 2006) in August, not June.

some of this sounds great, but really… your nondisclosure agreement allows you to say this. come on.
Ampar, you’re right. Bravo probably has the first episodes ready to roll, they’re just waiting for Sweeps week.
Mail, Address Book, iCal, iSight, and iChat will become one integrated application

Finally.
Separating the address book from Mail? mental.
Stirring iChat into the mix seems moot, since it links with Mail and the Address Book. I rarely use it, so am not familiar with it’s niceties, though using it for direct file transfers is great!

Sure.. well.. Apple could buy Adium, but.. er.. you know.. their illegitimate hacking into MS networks is not exactly mainstream..
I don’t touch iChat cuz.. um.. no one uses AOL shit..
Everyone has msn
MDN reporting on forum posts? Does anybody still take you guys seriously?
iCall bullshit on this one. Those r some hefty spec requirments. Most of the products on the market will b shut out if Apple did this.
Not too many ppl r going to b happy or upgrade their hardware to run this thing. Most MACs (iDon’t know about the Intels) cannot be upgraded to 2GB RAM, so what r they suppose to do? Buy new ones… This sounds Microsoftish; it would b stupid to do that.
What they should add to that list is some disk utilities. Whoever said Mac HD don’t get fragmented need to beat down.
“most, if not all, of this is posted elsewhere and is commonly available”
Yeah, right. Most, if not all, of that is brand-new. Brand new fiction.
My Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Apple precludes me from revealing proprietary detail
Then STFU.
</i>but because most, if not all, of this is posted elsewhere and is commonly available, I have no problems with confirming the following</i>
OIOW, “Other people leaked so it’s OK that I leak too”.
First, if it’s non-news and “posted elsewhere”, then why blab about it? People will find the facts soon enough.
And second, confidentiality is confidentiality. If someone else let the cat out, you don’t need to help confirm it.
Moron.
“A (minimum) 150 GB HD is required (250 GB is recommended)”
This means that the Mini’s and all current Mac laptops would not be able to run Mac OSX 10.5 unless between now and the time 10.5 ships someone produces a cheap 2.5″ 200gb hard drive.
So Apple will have two OS’s on the market? 10.5 will be for their high-end equipment and then they will have 10.4 for everything else.

No! The author was saying that in order to run multiple OS’s you need these hard drive requirements, not to run OS 10.5. Although, I can’t fathom a reason for these requirements for a virtualization scheme.
I couldn’t care less about MS being able to load on a Mac. IT SUCKS. I DON’T WANT IT.
SHOVE WINDOWS UP BALLMER’S ANAL GLAND. Wait, he’d probably LIKE that. Shove it up someone’s anal gland.
Zzzzzzzzzzz……
April fools!
I posted it.
Though if it did allow a partition for Vista, that would take 150 gigs all by itself just to fit the OS’s footprint!

@ Da Vinci (“Is this OS only for Intel Macs?”):
DON’T EVEN say that!! If Apple releases OS 10.5 Leopard for Intel Macs only I am going to quite possibly be the more angry at a technology company than ever in my life! The ONLY redeeming factory here is that it would provide a good excuse to buy a new Mac… but…………
Hooks are built in? Oooooh. Sounds like fun!
The improvements/innovations mentioned are so good that I hope and pray there is some truth to it. Freaking drool to the integrated communication program. It would be about damn time. Dual boot support for Windows? Sounds like Apple is planning an explosive product aimed squarely at Microsoft. I can’t freaking wait!
This is pretty much on-par with your typical MacDailyNews “information”…
Once again MDN shows the quality of its journalistic integrity by re-publishing another load of crap. But hey, as long as it brings in hits and drives up the advertising revenue, who gives a fuck.
This must be the biggest BS i have ever read plzzz get a life.
another thing. it says it will require a minimum of a 150 gig hardrive. the macbook pro’s max is 120 gig – build to order.
theres no way in the world apple would eliminate people who just bought a macbook pro from getting leopard and using all its features, such as the supposed multi os solution descibed in the entry.
it won’t use sherlock
big dealio
sherlock went out with os-9
To all the above writers who claim “Apple will NEVER support Dual Booting…”
Remmber “Think Different!” and read all about Bootcamp -Dual Booting from Apple for the MacIntels.
Hmmm…. NOW it sounds like this was a legitimate observation!!
Bwwwwwaaaahhahahahahahahahahahah!
Now THAT’S funny! We are soooooooo quick to judge, ain’t we?
LOL
Um… Isn’t WWDC from 7-11 August this year not June? If this wag can’t even get that very public detail correct, how much can we trust the rest of it?
