  1. To “Nobody” who posted above. I am using a G4 tower connecting to the internet with cox cable. I was using 10.2.6. I knew the problem was with the new software becasue I was able to connect using classic. I also have a back up internal hard drive which I did not upgrade and it connected. I am now using 10.2.6 and it is working. I think my problem is highly unusual, but the technician from apple seemed to know what to do. I hope this answers your questions.

  2. I always use the OS X Combo update no matter what and have never had any problems or issues. I also always repair permissions both before and after applying it as well. Most of the problems that people run into can be avoiding by simplying doing those things everytime.

Offcourse, people buy macs so they don’t have to repair permissions, find the combo version of an update, and repair permissions again instead of just running softwareupdate.

  3. Michael,
Thanks. We don’t have the same computer. I have an iMac with a modem. But, to be safe, I think I’ll just wait for a while. There are other reports about this problem and I don’t see any pattern yet.

So, this is different from 10.2.5 update that messed up modem connections.
