Apple fans waiting for a new Apple TV might have to hold on a bit longer. Bloomberg News’ Mark Gurman throws cold water on previous rumors of a first-half-2024 release, suggesting it’s not coming “imminently.”
While specifics are still under wraps, analysts predict a faster processor and potentially a more affordable price tag (sub-$100 according to Ming-Chi Kuo) for the next iteration. However, the Sellers Research Group believes Apple won’t slash the price, but rather focus on adding more value to justify the current cost. They might offer older models at a discount though.
As for design, no major changes are expected, but Gurman hints at Apple’s future exploration of a built-in camera for the Apple TV.

I’d like to know how much Apple is making on Apple TV+ and related hardware sales vs. how much they’ve spent on the service. I doubt they’re breaking even at best.
There is absolutely no reason that the next version of AppleTV should not have a USB-C port for an external video/audio source. I don’t want to be stuck with a built-in camera that is positioned how and where Apple wants; I want the camera where I want it (like sitting on top of my TV) and I want to use it for things like (but not limited to) FaceTime.
Perhaps future tvOS versions could use the same port for external storage as well.
Apple should skip m4 it’s too slow. Should move to make a 128 graphic cores , 128 core SMT Core, 128 bit cpu, for its Mac Pro. 1024 bit data bus, 6 pcie expansion slots with 64 independent lanes each. One terabyte, 512mB, 256 MB RAM and data transfer rates of 1,000 terabytes. Pcie speed should be 3 generations past pcie 5.0. And use 0.8 nm. It’s time to clock some peta flops at the desktop. We’ve got big problems to solve. Hours waiting will not do. We need to be able to compile say all of Linux in less than a nanosecond. Render an 8 k two hour video in less than a second. Calculate all possible 100 atom organic chemical compound and predict their properties in 15 seconds. What is the hold up? You don’t need the rest of the industry.
Guess you missed the part where we’re talking about the Apple TV? 🙂
