Apple’s “New Music Tuesdays” continue to roll on weekly. Apple has announced new releases to the iTunes Music Store, including Annie Lennox, Steely Dan, Luther Vandross, Franky Perez, Kenna, Frankie J, Guster, and Reach 454. Apple has also added music from R. Kelly, R.E.M., Joni Mitchell, Rush, Miles Davis, Memphis Slim & Willie Dixon, and Adam Ant.
Exclusive tracks “Revisited” from O.A.R. and “Set Me Free” from the upcoming soundtrack to the feature film, “Hulk” have also been added.

Wouldn’t it be cool if they could add one free track every week or month? Promo type of deal. The other thing I thought of was maybe a frequent buyer program. 10th track free, or something like that. Maybe this would stimulate more use. Any thoughts?

They’re probably waiting on promotions until their sales slack off and they have competition.
It would also help if there were major bands like Beatles and Rolling Stones. This is stuff that I had LP’s for and cassettes and just never got around to rebuying on CD.
Also, when are the smaller labels coming? What about independent artists?
At first, I thought the selection was great. But the more I look for stuff that I want, I find that it’s rarely there, and when it is, there is not usually the album I am looking for. In fact, I am hard pressed to find any group that is not a ‘one hit wonder’ where all of the group’s albums can be found. This is true of any major artist or group that I can think of, regardless of the label.
On the plus side ACC sounds great IMHO. I was thinking that it would not, based on what all the audio geeks seemed to be saying. My stereo is not the best but I do have a component system and a very nice system in my car (sounds better than the component system, in fact) and I can tell VERY little difference between AIFF/MP3/AAC.
My cousins were looking for two songs for their wedding over the weekend and I was surprised to see that both songs were available! I’m quite pleased with their selection.
One thing I did notice was when I was looking for a specific album, I found out that when I “bought” the whole album for $9.99, I didn’t actually get all the songs that were on the original album. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I checked and the track numbers jumped, i.e. 1, 4, 5, 10, 11, 13, 15, etc….What about all the other tracks? If you are curious as to what I’m talking about, search for Missy Elliott’s album, Miss E. I asked them to offer the whole album, then and only then, would I buy it.
Maybe they could even have a promotion for .Mac subscribers, like email them a coupon code for 10 or 15 percent off any whole cd of their choice.
Bring in The Animals and ? and the Mysterians… Pleazzzzzzze!
And what about all them “one hit wonders” that Rhino records has compiled? I like them records with their one hits better than the slick Beatles, Elvis, and other such overproduces personalities and bands. Really.
