“Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch a new iPad within the next few weeks,” Michael Moore reports for The Express.
“That’s according to a new report from Apple World, which noted an interesting development in the online ordering page for the iPad,” Moore reports. “Clicking on the ‘Check Availability’ option for the upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 on Apple’s website apparently now shows the date of April 4th, suggesting this is when it will land.”

MacDailyNews Take: Yes, unless you absolutely need an iPad right now, hold off a bit to see what, if anything, Apple has up their sleeve in April. If nothing, the next plausible opportunity for new iPads would be June.

Compared to the dusty old hardware on this list, those iPads in stock now are positively new.
Suck it up, buttercup. Let do their thing. It’s like a wise man once said, “you can’t rush art.”
On the contrary: when you’re CLEARING $3B in profits every week of the year … you most certainly can do better. Much better.
Particularly when the definition of “rush” is to have Macs get refreshed before they’re later than historical lifecycle average; case in point:
MacBook Pro … 4 months (41% of historical lifecycle; ok)
MacBook … 11 months (86% – marginal)
iMac … 17 months (162% – definitely late!)
MacBook Air … 24 months (209% – definitely late!)
Mac Mini … 29 months (200% – definitely late!)
Mac Pro … 39 months (262% – definitely late!)
In contrast, all of the iPads are still under their historical lifecycle refresh trends:
9.7″ … day 182 of historical 335 = 54%
Mini … day 182 of historical 354 = 51%
12.9″ … day 182 of historical 301 = 60%

One idea to prevent loss of iPad sales due to a new one soon arriving might be to offer a price match refund to whatever those models will be priced at when the new ones arrive. Give it a validity window, say 3-4 months?
They usually do this within a month old.
No question asked
Better one month than nothing
That’s good but I think something like that may be more effective soon after announcing a set date if the date is still a few months away to avoid a large dip in sales. If the date announcement is 4-5 weeks ahead of release, the current policy should be effective.
Important to refresh these right away since it is 182 days since their last update. Horrifying delay, horrid! Inconceivable.
After all, who cares about iMacs (512 days) or Minis (874 days) or Mac Pros (1,175 days)? Fa!
Careful there about stating facts on this forum. Apple apologists like Christopher will start wooing you with lovely little Minnesotan Land-O-Lakes terms of affection like Buttercup.
Apple’s ecosystem looks like a name change from Apple to iOS-R-Us is in order.
MDN, LOL! This is the problem absolutely no one needs an iPad.
MacRumors has a good guide. They usually call it.
June? What year.
It has not gone unnoticed that the supposed supply chain genius doesn’t even try to spread out product introductions. Apple’s release schedule every year seems to be a mad scramble to have new inventory in stores before xmas. Half the time they fail at that too.
I remember when folks used to spoof the original Surface. Now Apple is desperately trying to make their own version. So much for leading the pack. The iPads need to evolve beyond this.
The recent iPad Pro ads are seeming to be more like the adage “If you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail”. Replace a scanner? Have MS Word? Really?
