In a deal brokered by Apple, Foxconn is lending Quanta Computer 3,000 workers for Appel Watch assembly, Vincent Wang reports for CTIMES.
Apple Watch was highlighted on March 9 at an Apple special event, but is not available for pre-order until April 10, and for release on April 24th. It’s possible that he month and a half waiting time is due to Quanta’s defect-free rate being below Apple’s expectations, Wang reports.
It’s widely reported that Quanta’s defect-free rate is currently under 30 percent.

Seven out of ten are don’t pass inspection? Quanta is in a boatload of shit.
Having read the excellent

I wonder about the details of the supply chain. I’ve always thought of Foxconn and Quanta as final assemblers of bits and pieces Apple has obtained from other sources. Are they the ones who machine the cases, for example? Or is the Watch so hard to assemble they just can’t get the bits together without marring them in some way?
One thing for sure, Apple would rather slide the release than have crap products in the hands of customers.
A. Don’t believe everything you read.
B. For damn sure Apple would never let this one particularly deviate from its standard of excellence.
Agree totally.
I’ll add that it has been known for years that Foxconn does indeed machine parts for Apple devices. Presumably Quanta is doing the same but for different Apple products.
The fabrication quality Apple expects for the Watch is just astounding. I can’t wait for the iFixit teardown.
The article is most likely a typical doom and gloom click bait from a competition.
Sounds like slave trading to me.
Oh and Apples standards have ever so slowly slipped over the past few years.
