Apple has released version 4.5 of its free Apple Sports app for iPhone, enhancing Live Activities so fans can see key game statistics during breaks in the action and adding support for five more soccer leagues.

The Live Activity updates, which appear on the iPhone Lock Screen and Dynamic Island (and on Apple Watch), now surface key stats during pauses across leagues. Apple says the change helps users “stay even closer to the game at a glance.” Live Activities already deliver real-time scores and play-by-play for followed teams or scheduled games without opening the app.

The new soccer competitions are Brazilian Serie B, English League One, English League Two, Norwegian Eliteserien, and the UEFA Nations League. These join a rapidly growing roster that already includes major leagues such as the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, MLS, and many others, plus earlier 2026 additions like the Australian A-League Men, Egyptian Premier League, Israeli Premier League, South African Premiership, and various European and Asian domestic leagues.

Apple Sports launched in early 2024 as a fast, simple scores-and-stats app with personalized team and league following, widgets, and deep Live Activity integration. Throughout 2026 it has expanded aggressively — especially around the FIFA World Cup — adding formations views, tennis tournament brackets, more national availability (now in more than 170 countries and regions), and dozens of soccer competitions. The app remains iPhone-only and requires a recent iOS version.

The update is available now as a free download on the App Store. Availability of specific leagues and features can vary by region.
