Rush Limbaugh announces video podcasts for Apple iPod starting December 12th

“Starting on December 12th, we’re going to be supporting video iPods with a daily one-minute video podcast of the next day’s morning update. What happens after this program each day, I record the morning update, the morning commentary that runs on our 600-plus affiliate radio stations. We’re going to Dittocam the recording of the updates and make those available free of charge, just another complimentary service to current subscribers of RushLimbaugh.com [$6.95/mo. or $49.95/yr.]. Rush 24/7 members will receive the Morning Update the afternoon it is recorded,” Rush Limbaugh announced on his radio show and in a transcript available on RushLimbaugh.com.

“Every Morning Update is going to be a video file, it will be viewable on a video iPod and certain other portable video devices — or you can watch it right from your computer. It will work just like any other QuickTime file works. So every afternoon when subscribers get the audio podcast of that day’s program, they will also get an extra file which will be the video podcast of the next day’s morning update,” Limbaugh explained. “This is an exclusive feature, an exclusive new feature of Rush 24/7 for members. It will be included as part of every subscription without any extra charge. The quality will be superb — well, the content is flawless; you don’t need to worry about the content because I’m in charge of that. Now, we’ve been testing this for the past two weeks, and I got a video iPod from my buds at CompUSA. I went out there, and I’ve been testing, looking at some of the video that we have prepared for the testing here, and it looks awesome. It’s just awesome on a video iPod.”

  1. This is huge. And it’s great that he announced it to his listeners in such a big way.

Man, can you imagine how influential this avenue could turn out to be if only Limbaugh and Jobs were on the same side of the political spectrum?

You’d have both Mac ads AND a host who loves them pimping them for 3 hours EVERY day to millions upon millions of listeners, rather than just the occasional mention Macs get on his show now.

  2. Rush is just a little right of Attila the Hun. He is paid to express his political opinions. The right loves him, the left hates him.

Steve Jobs is paid to run 2 very significant public companies. When he expresses a political opinion he can affect the value of the publicly traded stock of both of those companies. Steve should not be expressing his political opinions. We should not even know which way he leans politically. That is probably the only significant mistake he has made in the last decade.

  3. Big Al,
Moderates hate him too. In fact, we hate all left and right-wing nutjobs who, like Limbaugh, are sheep and can’t critically think beyond party rhetoric. Also, hate to break it to the dittoheads, but Limbaugh is nothing more than an entertainer paid to rally the neocons and ruffle the libs. His opinion is no more valid than anyone else’s.

  4. Attila the Hun as right-winger… and all this time I thought he was a King and general with a lust for conquering. I’m not even sure they had left and right “wings” in the fifth century.

Who would be your historical choice for an extreme left-winger?

  5. Somebody said ” Because no matter what you think about him, he wields a lot of influence over his massive listening audience.”

This is wrong. He does NOT influnce us. Most of us like him because he has views that we have already had. If anything, Rush entertains us and also gives us news that is overlooked by “big media.” This overlooked news is usually detrimental to the liberal cause. What a coincidence that it gets overlooked…

  6. Not only is Rush an ipod user, he has been using a mac for a long time. People forget how large his audience is. If I am not mistaken, his audience is larger than any newspapers, or cable news network. I believe it is something like 20 million and growing. Conservative talk radio is blowing up everyday.

Rush is not a cool aid drinking puppet of the right. He is just as powerful as the gop leadership, and often more.

Think what you want about him, but the fact is Rush is one of the most powerful figures in media

  7. Jesus Christ was not left wing – not anywhere close to it. And don’t bother to proof-text isolated verses out of context to try to fit him in that hole. I’ve heard it all before, and you’ll loose. Left wingers are not equipped for biblical interpretation, so you’d be wise not to start spouting those same tired nonsensical clichés.

Yeah, well he’s not the first Apple CEO to make his political leanings known. John Sculley publicly supported the original George Bush.

A lot of CEO’s of large corporations often make political endorsements, but they’re usually Republican endorsements (gee, what a surprise).

I love it! “Free,” in Republican-speak, is only $6.95/month or $49.95/year! One could have a lot of fun writing a Republican-speak dictionary. Would be helpful in the next election too. Too bad most people would only perceive it as a work of humor.
