Apple’s M4 Macs for 2024 – iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini – will launch “very soon,” according to Bloomberg News’ Mark Gurman.
In line with what I’ve been reporting for a while, Apple will very soon launch its new Macs. There should be some hands-ons outside of Cupertino and online video. I expect the M4 iMac, MacBook Pro, revamped Mac mini and USB-C accessories.
MacDailyNews Take: Back in April, Gurman reported, “Apple is aiming to release the updated computers beginning late this year and extending into early next year. There will be new iMacs, a low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and Mac minis — all with M4 chips… Apple is then planning to follow up with more M4 Macs throughout 2025. That includes updates to the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air by the spring, the Mac Studio around the middle of the year, and the Mac Pro later in 2025.”

Eagerly waiting for the next, maxed out, M4, 16″ MacBook Pro. My ancient 15.1″, maxed out Intel based MacBook Pro is getting long in the tooth (a reference for you horsemen/women out there).
As with most older Macs it’s still serviceable but is past the point of getting full updates on MacOS. One of the great benefits of Macs is their longevity. It’s not beneficial to Apple, but it is great for Mac users. In fact I know people who are still running Airports because they are so stable!
maybe Asahi Fedora Remix could help you get more life out of it once updates stop even if just as a backup device and linux can make devices feel faster.
Anxiously awaiting the M4 refresh of the Studio to replace my 2013 Mac Pro – “trashcan edition”. Its been running 24/7 for 11 years but I need to get on the current MacOS to take advantage of all the improvements since MacOS Monterey (12.76). I could go with the M2 Studio but hate to do that so close to a processor upgrade.
