New, fourth-generation Apple TV 4K is expected to launch with a more advanced processor than the current Apple TV 4K’s A15 Bionic chip.
Joe Rossignol for MacRumors:
The next Apple TV will be equipped with a faster processor compared to the current model, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. It’s unclear which chip will power the device, but possibilities include the A16 Bionic chip that debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro models or the A17 Pro chip that debuted in the iPhone 15 Pro models…
[E]xact pricing for the next model remains to be seen… In the U.S., the current Apple TV starts at $129 with 64GB of storage, and a 128GB model is available for $149.
No major external design changes are expected for the next Apple TV.
MacDailyNews Take: Apple plans to release the next-gen Apple TV 4K in the first half of 2024, according to Bloomberg News‘ Mark Gurman, so we’ll see it hit the market by WWDC at the latest.

Does it need to be faster? Maybe for games. How about lower prices?
Built-in AirTag or similar.
(Roku has a small button on the side of the receiver, if you press it, the remote starts beeping—simple, cheap, idiot-proof.)
Play/Pause button should be bigger and/or more strategically placed than the other buttons.
Dedicated fast-forward/rewind 15/30 second buttons.
Backlit remote.
Integration with Vision Pro, including-but-not-limited to Continuity handoff.
There should have been a FaceTime camera on the front of the AppleTV for the past several years. It would be a lot better than having people put their phones at the TV and do the manipulations to make the call transfer to the phone from the TV app. It is a no brainer but Apple is too lazy to make useful improvements.
Agreed. Should have two cameras for Apple Vision Pro FaceTime capability, sensors for hand gestures and to spacial-map people’s movements for avatars (game integration and karaoke). Apple should have made a native karaoke app and hand-held microphone for karaoke like 10 years ago. Possibly also have all this integrated into a sound bar.
