Barack Obama posted his first tweet via the new @POTUS account today at 11:38am EDT and he, or a staff member, used an Apple iPhone to accomplish the feat:
Prior to today, the @BarackObama account, which is run by Organizing for Action staff, featured tweets from Obama that were signed “-bo.”

AMERICAN President finally uses product of AMERICAN company after nearly seven years?
There is probably very little that an American President uses by choice. Not in this day and age.
I’d be curious to know if this means that the iPhone has finally been certified for secure use by the POTUS and others in the WH. To imagine that so far, only BlackBerry has been approved is to realise the bizarre ways American federal Government evaluates and certifies various products for their own use.
Seven years. Really?
It’s funny that you chose “Think” as your display name, since you obviously didn’t do so before replying. 🙂
Obama took office in January 2009. That was six years and four months ago. Any sane person would round that to SIX in stating his term in years.
6 or 6 Plus? Does he wear an WATCH EDITION? Tim should give him one personally.😃⌚️

The people’s WATCH😜🎉💥⌚️
There are some errors in this post. The correct way to say his name is President Barack Obama. Unless of course the poster is just being completely disrespectful.
Sickens me to think about it. I feel dirty now.
And how would you feel if the post was from GWB? or Newt?
Sorry your mind is so foul of thoughts.
Smart of BO to use twitter and not get anywhere near the failed mac IMAP email fiasco, now going into its third year.
Failed mac (sic) IMAP email fiasco? Hyperbole much?
For a supposed “fiasco”, I and none of my friends or relatives have had any problem with iCloud email whatsoever. I’ve been using Apple mail almost as long as I can remember.
I’m thinking this is a separate device (of course) just for use like Twitter. He doesn’t have/do secure email on it, or other classified comms.
For a ‘personal’ Twitter account, I don’t see why they wouldn’t have cleared a ‘normal’ iPhone for his use.
So his “nonsecure” iPhone gets p0wned and the microphone turned on remotely… or tracked….
Lol. Didn’t mean he would carry it 24/7. And it turns out it was borrowed for the occasion. It’s owned by the Executive Office of the President (which probably means a spare one of the staff has).

B-b-b-b-but the iPhone is the preferred tool of terrorists!
Why would he betray us all like this? Did he (or *can* he) turn the encryption off?
Also, is the post from @BarackObama or @POTUS? It’s unclear in the article. If the latter, then will the account be reassigned after the next inauguration?
Update:
Apparently it was from @POTUS. And the White House confirmed that it will be transferred to successors.
“They,” meaning the National Security Police State Apparatus, not the US Congress, not the judiciary, and certainly not the presidency, that fundamentally runs the federal corporation. Of course, this must to change for the better. It’s up to the people.
