Apple honors CEO Tim Cook’s hero, Martin Luther King Jr.

“Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. means a lot to Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.

“Cook told Charlie Rose in an interview last September that he looks every day at photos in his office of Robert Kennedy and Rev. King, his personal heroes,” P.E.D. reports. “Cook quoted King high up in the essay in which he acknowledged his sexual orientation.”

P.E.D. reports, “And to celebrate MLK Day 2015, Cook tweeted, Apple was devoting its home page Monday to King’s memory.”

    1. Ferguson’s “Hand’s Up, Don’t Shoot” is a lie.

It never happened. It’s just Joseph Goebbels-like “Big Lie” propaganda for low-information, Obama-voting, pliant pawns.

By referring to it, even in jest, means that you perpetuate a lie.

I prefer to stick to the actual truth.

        1. Just “shut up?”

Why don’t Libtards like yourself just shut up because you can’t handle the truth.

And that goes out to your factually challenged buddies KingMel and Artist.

Your ignorant discourse of the facts is more troubling than the liberal media that provides you with with PC bullcrap that ALSO gnores the facts.

        2. Waaaaaaahhhhhhh… mommy the pinhead, stupid ass, backwards cretin called me a libtard.

I have no idea what a libtard is (spell check keeps changing it by the way) but I do know a pathetic, stupid ass when I see one and that you are. libtard. Sheesh. Grow up and get a life.

        3. You should cry. Cry a river because you are as stupid as a stump. The PC altar you worship on can’t handle the truth. For all to read here the fact is evident in your response. You did not dispute anything with facts. Dissing means nothing. Facts mean everything. Grow up.

        4. PC altar I worship at? Really. Were you there for the introduction of the Mac. Did you sell what was probably the first Apple III sold in the US retail the day they were introduced? Did you sell a Million dollars of Apple computers to the Education Market at an independent retailer in 1984, probably the first person to do so?

I thought not. Yeah, I’m as stupid as a stump. I probably taught your elementary school teacher how to use computers in the classroom and you failed to catch on to the lesson.

Give me a break. What was to dispute. The “libtard” slur? the Goebbels reference? The stupid political rant because there was not valid point?

Oh wait, it must have been the racist (admit it, that is the root of the criticism of Obama) criticism of the President, the one that dug us out of the hole the right wing wackos and the 1% dug.

Grow up punk. Move out of your mom’s basement and do something with your life.

        5. A Libtard is calling me a punk? Live in Mom’s basement? Do something with your life???

Presumptuous one — all you know is you DON’T KNOW.

My first Mac purchase was a Costner commercial Lisa. Your bragging resume is irrelevant and totally off topic. And no one on this forum is better at obfuscation, deflect and deny than you.

You really need to a grip on reality and stay on TOPIC.

        6. Change of insults, now calling me an idiot? Whatever.

I repeat, for all to read here the fact is evident in your response. You did not offer an intelligent or reasoned argument to 2010 then on post. He laid out the facts, you laid out NONE. Pity facts bother you.

Instead, you went on a rant and attempted to DENY free speech by telling 2010 to SHUT UP.

Folks, who here needs to grow up?

    1. It is a paid holiday for Apple employees as well as just about every other large company in the USA. Retail employees are different as is the case for all retail. So you are the one full of shit.

      1. I find it odd that you would answer with such certainty here when you obviously don’t know the facts. Martin Luther King day is not a paid vacation for Apple employees. I know several people that work in Cupertino at Apple and they all have to work today just like ever other year.

      2. Incorrect. I work at a 50000+ US company, and we aren’t off today. I used to do consulting work for similarly-large companies in the US (Cisco, Ericsson, HP, Verizon, AT&T, to name a few). Not a single one ever game MLK day off.

    2. “Is today a paid holiday for Apple employees? If not, then Mr. Cook is just full of shit.”

Uh, no. There is no logical link. And there is no requirement for Apple to give everyone a paid holiday because the CEO makes a very brief personal statement honoring MLK. Kee-riste, get out of that cesspool of negativity you live in.

  1. Favorite MLK quote, unlike Thoreau’s “theoretical” Civil Disobedience, that was applied in real life:

“I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.”
    (Letter From Birmingham Jail)

  2. MLK was a great man, but the holiday itself is a joke. most people getting the day off and don’t give a crap about the man. I also question todays black youth. I think most of them would rather follow Malcolm X and laugh at being non-violent toward whites and hold hands.
