“The new public beta program for OS X Yosemite officially launches Thursday, taking software that has traditionally been protected from the public by a $99 paywall and distributing it to the first million users who sign up on Apple’s site,” Andrew Cunningham reports for Ars Technica. “It’s a very Microsoft-esque way to roll out an OS: you give enthusiasts a chance to work with an early-but-reasonably-stable build in exchange for valuable bug-squashing feedback. Ideally, it will keep Yosemite from suffering from some of the general bugginess that affected iOS 7.0 when it launched last year.”
“In advance of the public beta, we’ve been given about a week of time to use the third developer preview and get a sense of what Yosemite brings to the table,” Cunningham reports. “Beta subscribers will get a slightly newer build of the operating system, but at this point most of the features are locked down and ready for evaluation by the public.”
Cunningham reports, “What we’ll be doing today is taking a high-level look at the new operating system’s redesigned user interface and its biggest features, while shining a light on a few things that could use some more work.”

and there’s where the similarities end. Winders 8.1 has been a bigger disaster for MS than Vista. And I’ve (been forced to) use both. There isn’t a word in English strong enough to convey the general ass-backward and sucki-ness of Win 8/8.1
If your command of English is inadequate to convey your meaning, then feel free to use another language.
As bad as the Windows 8 GUI is, MS does do some things correctly. For one, they do NOT restrict users from returning to the prior release — Windows 7 actually isn’t completely terrible. ~75% of Mac users have to emulate into Windows every day to get their work done, and Windows 7, thought not as clean as Snow Leopard, does what it’s supposed to do very well.
There are many ways in many languages to tell Apple what a horrid user-unfriendly decision it is to restrict people from reverting to the prior OS. iOS7 turned a lot of potential customers off, whether Apple wants to believe it or not.
Oh yes, iOS 7 really scared away so many. You can tell by the dismal sale of only 35 million phones last quarter (that’s 4.5 per second) , the quarter just before new iPhones come out. Just terrible. Apple is so dumb.

Yessssss, but you see, it could have been a full 5 per second!!! Just avoiding the disaster of iOS7 would have meant far greater sales and far fewer people walking around with that half of an iPhone.
My command of English has nothing to do with the fact that there isn’t a word for the combination of “half-assed” and “sucky”.
Clearly you’ve confused iOS and OSX. iOS was not the topic of either this thread or my post, and it is quite straightforward to downgrade OSX to an earlier version.
