“In a change to Apple’s developer website on Monday, the company announced adoption of iOS 7 is now at 85 percent [for the week ending on March 23] while the share of devices running iOS 6 has fallen to 12 percent,” AppleInsider reports.
“Adoption of Apple’s iOS 7 has been growing steadily after it launched in September of 2013. One week after its debut, the version accounted for 52 percent of iOS web share, a statistic that jumped to 74 percent in early December,” AppleInsider reports. “Later that month, Apple announced iOS 7 was on 78 percent of compatible devices.”
AppleInsider reports, “Likely contributing to this month’s growth is the release of iOS 7.1, which brought CarPlay support, Touch ID enhancements and provisions for mass device deployment operations.”

Apple iOS 7 adoption hits 90%, while Google Android 4.4 Kit Kat remains a paltry 8% – March 24, 2014
Ahhhh the privileged 15%
Count me in. 🙂
Yep, my iPad stays with Google Maps, the best of its kind.
Simple, easy, quick, Street View.
Good for you. I have iOS 7 and the best of both worlds: Google Maps AND Apple Maps. Both have advantages and disadvantages.
It’s called kit-kat because it resembles a melted turd when carried around in a trouser pocket.
Lee Kun Trolls Unite. Paste in the iOS 7 loser notes now!
I’d rather read spam posts at this point than the constant diarrhea you’ve been posting here since iOS went flat months ago.
But we know, because we are well-informed through our constellation of industry contacts and sage advisors, and because of our keen insights into design, marketing, and consumer psychology, that iOS 7 is an abject failure, a travesty of design, fit only for those with limited minds and no taste.
iOS 7 is terrible; therefore, the increase in its adoption must be due either to a seismic demographic shift — the arrival of a vast number of schoolgirls in the 2- to 14-year age range — or to a surge of new Hello Kitty fans, perhaps due to a massive viral ad campaign no one has yet noticed.
Logic.
There you go again trying to make sense of the adoption rate of iOS 7 for the unwashed.
Like a lot of people, I ‘updated’ with an open mind, thinking I’d get used to the hidious UI. I was wrong, but Apple chose not to inform me that it was a one-way street.
Plus, you buy a new phone you get iOS 7 and every iOS 6 device hounds you to ‘update’ every time you sync.
Oh yes, and people are dumb sheep, including Apple fans now apparently.
THAT is how you get high adoption.
Give this comment 1 star if you think iOS 7 is an abomination.
What kind of dumbass upgrades the OS without knowing you can’t go back?
What kind of dumbass thinks it’s clever to write, “Give this comment 1 star if you think iOS 7 is an abomination.”
Yeah voting against the comment in general being a down vote but adding that one last qualifier to call it a contradictory abomination (when we don’t) as another down vote is just being an a-hole.
Consider the down votes completely against you personally and your lame opinions.
Your adoption rate logic is totally correct. No choice from the uber creative think different company. That is the true travesty.
A travesty of design?
Big time.
Wasn’t this based on purchases from iTunes store? Think about it. Who else would be buying stuff other than people that just got a new device or people upgrading apps for iOS7? This seems fishy. Why doesn’t Apple just query our devices and find out for sure?
Think about it? Could there possibly other reasons for a device (or user) to access iTunes other than purchasing stuff?
1. Signing in for authorization purposes
2. Downloading app upgrades
Both of these happen often enough, even by older devices.
“Why doesn’t Apple just query our devices and find out for sure?”
Apple isn’t in the habit of monitoring their customers for the sake of monitoring. Whenever you access iTunes, the device will identity itself, and here is where Apple can gather this kind of data. And in fact this data is ONLY important because it’s a statistic based off real time “active” use.
But…
On Monday, it was reported that Mixpanel said iOS 7 was already at an 88% to 90% adoption rate.
So what is it? 85% today or 90% last Monday?
Either way, the vast majority of operational iPhones than have the physical ability to run iOS 7 are running the latest version of the OS proving all those articles over the last few months claiming that iOS was fragmenting are pure BS.
Love it or hate it, iOS 7 has had one of the fastest uptakes of any iOS version.
I just updated my sister’s iPad, to 7.1, because she unwittingly was still on 7.0.7. My nephew, who is supposed to be technically savvy, is still on iOS 5, admittedly, because he’s both cheep and a stubborn jail breaker. I gave him a nice warning…
Interesting, considering 7.0.7 was never released.
I must have mistyped. I think I meant 7.0.2. But now it doesn’t matter. I got her to 7.1 and feel good about it.
I think everyone on this board should have an attitude adjustment. There is nothing wrong with iOS 7. It’s much better than Android Tasty Turd, especially those on those smartphones by that look like PSPs made by Sony. Samsung may be scum, and their Galaxies may be flagrant rip-offs, but they are no where near as bad as Sony. Back in 2001, Sony botched the release of Michael Jackson’s new album, “Invincible”, because of creative differences. Ever since His death, Sony has been milking every last penny of him. They have been releasing unreleased material that SHOUlD have been released when he was alive. The whole Android ecosystem is a right mess right now.
It’s one person posting under a few IDs for the most part. They chronically write the same thing in the same writing style anytime iOS 7 is mentioned. You’ll also notice the posts are followed by the same commentators.
