Leaked Chinese marketing materials claim to reveal iPhone 5S specs

“Specifications for the upcoming iPhone 5S, believed to be announced by Apple tomorrow, have allegedly leaked, yet again bringing up a possible fingerprint sensor for the device,” Electronista reports.

“The specifications from Ctechnology state that it will have a four-inch 1136×640-resolution display, equal to that of the iPhone 5,” Electronista reports. “Using a dual-core A7 processor, it is said to have an 8-megapixel F2.0 aperture camera on the rear with a dual LED flash and recording 1080p at 120fps, a front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera, and a standby battery life stretching to 250 hours.”

      1. “Size doesn’t matter, it’s how you use it” would seem to apply here. I’ve never seen anyone on an Android device doing something worthwhile besides trying to get the device up and running again.

        1. I helped a guy for two hours sorting out how to get his newly purchased Motorola Android phone to work without glitches. Total PITA. A hard factor reset ended up being the only option. I got waves of déja vu reminders of self-corrupting Windows. Ghastly.

But it does allow for GPU hogging animated screen backgrounds! So kewl.

        2. Oh and the battery life was total crap. We had to keep it plugged in the whole time or it died a quick death. One problem was that it had rabid ‘multi-tasking’ processes in the background byteing everything in sight.

        1. Disagree. IMO the pre-5 was the perfect size for any pocket, and you could effortlessly reach every function with your thumb. Want something bigger? Get an iPad mini.

    1. First I will be glad if they don’t make the screen any bigger, I don’t want to have to carry a bag with me just to carry my phone. I like being able to put my phone in the front pocket of my jeans and sit down without breaking it in half. As for the camera anyone with any photographic knowledge will tell you more pixels crammed onto the same size censor does not a better image make.

    2. Dimwit. Have you still not managed to grasp the very simple principle that Apple only do a complete redesign every two years, interim models are an upgrade of the previous model.
This has been the case since the iPhone 3G, so it’s obvious that ‘Zzz’ means that most of your life is spent in a coma.

    1. It is not the resolution of the camera that is the issue. It is the crappy indoors and night time pictures that it takes. This should have been corrected after the first iPhone came to market. Has Tim Cook or the board never taken an indoors picture with their iPhone yet? Everyone of the many iPhones I own have the same issue. FIX IT APPLE!!!

        1. A really good explanation (relatively simple) can be found at
          http://www.mintron.com/htm/q&a/Htm/Choose%20lenses%20.htm

It’s a site for cctv cameras, but the explanation on the site is really simple and gives a good account of what F2.0 stands for.

If you don’t want to go to the website, I’ve copied and pasted the most relevant part here:

“A: F stand for aperture of the lenses is on F stop 2:1 and f 3.4mm stands for the focal length of the lenses is 3.4mm
a lenses with F 2.0 and f 3.4~4 is most economical to build, hence most inexpensive. it is widely using in board camera. A lenses with F 2.0 aperture will collect about half of the light then human eye. a lenses with f 3.4mm will have about 60 degree of view angel on a 1/4″ CCD and 90 degree on a 1/3″ CCD , which is pretty close to view angel of one human eye. Human with two eye will cover more view angel as an ingenious design of God. It is generally in the range of 150 to 180 degree from people to people. however please keep in mind that F stop and f focal length is the fundamental spec of a lenses but it doesn’t stands for the quality. A good lenses with same F stop and focal length can be 100 time more expensive then a bad lenses in same spec. Please check next Q and A for more information”

          Hope this helps.

    2. I believe they have to keep the forward facing camera low res in order to make FaceTime work. The lousy networks are the real problem, apple doesn’t want the user to have a bad experience. When the networks can actually Ansley’s the bandwidth, you’ll see higher res forward cameras on iPhones!

      1. I don’t think bandwidth is the problem since you can switch to the back camera mid call. More likely it’s a cost and space issue. Do you need a 5 lens 8MP front camera for FaceTime?

  1. I really hope the S model stays the same from outside, I hate spending money on accessories. Lightning connector was already driving me nuts when my wife got the iPhone5, there are over 40 different things for the 30 Pin connector, and dozens of cases for the iPhone 4S. Six months from now many of them have to be replaced with iPhone 5/Lightning stuff. $$$.

Apple should have a lighter 4S size phone with 3,5″ screen. After using a Android prototype 5″ phone for a week, I came to a conclusion 4.3″ is pretty much maximum usable size on a phone. iPhone 5 with 4″ screen, I have to admit, is quite perfect, but just too big for how I use my iPhone 4S. But then, I wear shorts and T-shirt 10 months out of 12.

    1. Apple simply had to upgrade their connector technology. The thirty pin dock connected has been around forever. I think Lightening will have a similar run. Stop crying when technology advances. Apple is King at developing new products instead of suffering through legacy.

    2. You will be happy apple didn’t wait until years later to upgrade the connector. With the road map they have in place, the ability for the lightning connector to hot assign individual pin functions means compatibility among a wide array of applications (i.e. Auto, Home, Wearables)

  2. As a big fanboy I still wish my iPhone had a better lowlight camera and a higher resolution camera. So sad when you see that all those Samsung Galaxy 4 devices simply do much better photos.

Not to mention Nokia Lumia 1020. A terrible operating system on a mediocre phone, but a fabulous camera. I truly wish Apple would have something like this. At least as an option for those to wish to have it.

If you keep in mind that Apple invented the modern smartphone it is a shame how much Apple has lost the pace. It’s a lot of arrogance at Apple.

Yes, it’s unlawful to critizise Apple on this website, but be sure that I do love Apple and I spent way over 150,000 Euros on Apple products for my company and also for my family. But Apple has to put much more speed on its product release cycles, that’s for sure.

  3. It would be great to have an upgraded camera, slightly larger screen (not fab-slab-ulous please!), massive drive space upgrade and 801.11ac. Oh and of course REAL 4G (LTE Advanced) capability as REAL 4G begins to roll out around the world.

An iPhone 6 before a year from now would be radi-kewl.
