Apple has launched their Back to School promotion for 2013:
Buy a Mac for college, get a $100 App Store Gift Card — and also save with education pricing. Or buy an iPad or iPhone and get a $50 card.
You’ll receive your App Store Gift Card with your purchase when you buy a qualifying product from one of these stores:
• Apple Online Store for Education
• Apple Retail Store
• Apple Authorized Campus Store
To qualify for the App Store Gift Card and get education pricing on a Mac, you must be a college student, a student accepted to a college, a parent buying for a college student, or a faculty or staff member from any grade level.

Does that mean we ALL have to go back to school?
Well, the discount works on the honour system. To access Education Store, you have to pick a university from their list and that’s it. There is no requirement to prove enrollment. The discount is fairly minimal (below 10%), so it will essentially absorb the retail tax (if you’re in NY, paying 8.25%), or save you a few bucks of fuel money (if your state retail taxes are lower)…
I would gladly pay an extra $100 just to avoid going back to school!

Is this news? I cannot remember any time Apple did not promote its “Back to School” sales.
