Apple hires ‘Mothership’ campus architect Norman Foster’s firm to revamp retail stores, sources say

“Sources close to the project said Foster + Partners, which has designed buildings including the McLaren Technology Centre and Hearst Tower in New York, is helping Apple on the retail store design brief,” Matthew Chapman reports for Marketing Magazine. “In the past, Apple has worked with rival architecture firm 8 Inc for its trailblazing stores, with 8 Inc responsible for designing its flagship 5th Avenue and Regent Street stores.”

“Foster + Partners has a long-standing relationship with Apple after being hired by founder Steve Jobs to build its new headquarters, with Jobs first unveiling renderings for the “spaceship” design in June 2011,” Chapman reports. “A Foster + Partners spokeswoman said: ‘Any project for Apple is confidential and therefore we are unable to comment.'”

      1. You are correct, sir!

If the resources squandered by pompous ego-obsessed pharoahs of Egypt were used for practical good, then Egypt wouldn’t have ever been squashed into irrelevance, it very well could have remained the center of the civilized world, looking more like Western Europe than the depraved mess it is today.

This always happens when wealth is hoarded by a few at the top for selfish purposes instead of invested in society and allowed to circulate in fair, efficiently-regulated meritocracy.

Instead the asshats lined their oversized trianglar solids with gold.

          1. my goodness! this might be the first time anyone has ever fat-fingered a word on a forum post. thank goodness we have experts here to correct obvious crucial mistakes.

            ….sheesh…

  1. As a shareholder I’m concerned about this project. History has shown that companies get into trouble when they start to lose focus. 5 billon for this is worrisome. Yes a cool building but what does that have to do with the business they are in? They should stick with the job at hand.
